Off-schedule: Star Frontiers, Firefly, gamers and zombies...

PaizoCon General Discussion

Hi all,
I and another from my group will be arriving at tomorrow and we plan to try to get together a few off-schedule games during the event. Here's what's on tap:

1) On Thursday evening - Star Frontiers: The Equinox Incident. The Equinox is the pride of Pan-Galactic Cruiselines fleet but this trip promises a bit more than buffets and stunning vistas. Using D20 Modern/Future. Up to eight players. 6th-level characters, handouts, etc. provided. Not sure of the gaming situation (i.e. where we'd play) so I'll find out and post a definite time and location once I get there Thursday afternoon.

2) On Saturday evening - Firefly. Using Deadlands (which is an awesome system for it!). Characters and materials provided. Likely held in an open gaming room, specifics later.

3) On Sunday late morning - PaizoCon Banquet: The Morning After. We're not sure whether it was the chicken or the fish...or the beer...but something bad happened last night. The game involves gamers...and maybe some zombies. Using D20 Call of Cthulhu. Characters provided. Held in an open gaming room, specifics later.

First come, first choice of pre-gens. If you want to post and say you'll be there that's great, but we won't hold you to it. There may well be some home-brew for those of age and bearing an official PaizoCon beer glass.

As noted, I'll post specific times/places when I can.

You had me at "Firefly"

LOL. The GM has run Firefly a couple of times for us, once with GURPS and once with Deadlands. Both times were a blast.
M

Sovereign Court

Oh Mearrin, don't tell me Firefly is during the Banquet ...

I'd like to get in on the Firefly game if possible.

If you run Star Frontiers after the Meet and Eat, then I'm definitely finding you!

One little addendum about the Firefly game.
The system will be "Deadlands: The Weird West Player's Guide. Revised Edition." What a mouthful. There are many versions and systems that carry the Deadlands name.

Ditto, I. Firefly... Saturday evening... the one timeslot I don't have anything scheduled! I am totally there.

Looks like Firefly might be a sold-out event. What? Nobody wants to play a Vrusk? A Vrusk John McClain? :)

Tim: I don't know the hours of the Meet and Eat but, even if we start before it's over, you're welcome to drop in when you're back.

Pat: BTW, El-El (transparent monkey girl) and I both managed to get into your Falling into the Sky game on Friday night. If you'll allow I'd like to bring some home-brew beer to share with you and the other players. If you don't want it at your game I understand but thought I'd offer. I promise to limit people to two...they're strong! :)

I want to play Star Frontiers! I still have my Zebulons Guide to the Galaxy, as well as every other product published for Star Frontiers. I even have all the minis!

Dibs on the dralasite.

Sovereign Court

What was the gliding species called? And what was the blob species? I haven't thought about SF in probably decades.

You have SF minis? You bringing them? Otherwise we're winging it with Star Wars minis or chits from the box set.

Two important bits: 1) one Dralasite, a stand-up comedian working on the Equinox, is already spoken for...but there is another, 2) hopefully you're not a complete canonista, because I only ever owned the basic set and likely do not conform completely with canon! :)
M

@Zylphryx: Gliding monkeys - Yazirians. Punny blobs - Dralasites. Big bugs - Vrusk.

Yazirians were the flying monkeys. Dralasite were the giant, one cell amoeba creatures.

I will have to dig them out but I have like 10 boxes of Star Frontiers minis. I found them on sale at a Toys R Us years ago on clearance for $1 each.

I can also play a mean Vrusk! And, Certainly don't mind humans. Never cared for Yazirians.

And I'm not a complete canonist. I enjoy a well thought out game regardless of the rule system.

You, sir, will get extra beer for bring real SF minis! :)

Time to go to the storage area tomorrow! I never turn down free beer. I think some even still have shrink wrap on them.

I will be there for Star Frontiers. Dralasite for me please.
SF Minis? I can't wait to see them!
This is going to be a blast!

Hi!

I remember transparent monkey girl (she flew, too, didn't she?)! Welcome back!

(Were you in the game last year, too? (No, that was the year before last, wasn't it?))

Anyway, yeah, for Metamorphosis Alpha, and Friday night, I don't think a beer, or two, would go amiss. Thanks!

I'm planning on coming up Thursday afternoon, so if you have space in your Star Frontiers game, I'd be interested in that, too. I've never played it before if that's OK. (Well, even if that's not OK, I've still never played it before :)

I'd love to play Star Frontiers! Oh and I'm not particular about which race I play.

I'll be in Thursday afternoon, tho' I'll be watching the boards obsessively until then.

SO EXCITED!

Liberty's Edge

Draconist and I are interested in Star Frontiers.

Hi all,
Just about to get on the road. I'm thinking we'll try to play around 7pm but I'll update with a final time and location after I get the lay of the land. Anyone that's already there have suggestions for a public location that's quiet and not in the way?
M

Grand Lodge

I will have to bow out of a 7 pm game. I am hosting the Venture-Captain dinner. However, please let me know where the game is at so I can stop by and say hi.

Eh. Might be more like 8pm anyway. Just got checked in (quite a crowd!) and have been running behind all day...still have preP to do. Will update in a bit.

@Mearrin - heading to the Meet n' Eat, but am still seriously interested in the Star Frontiers game. I'll try and check back in for updates.

Okay, here's the plan. I'll be in the lobby at 9pm, as near the fireplace as practical. Look for the Star Frontiers logo. We'll hang out until 9:30pm and then find a place to play. Possibly the pool deck until we can't see or move back to my room, near the pool. Bring a beer glass if you want to have a homebrew, or else you'll have to drink it out of the Marriot shorties.
M

Liberty's Edge

That is a little late for us. Thank you for the offer to run, though.

Scarab Sages

OK, well, I didn't get here quite as early as I'd hoped, so I won't be making the Star Frontiers game tonight, alas :)

Still up for Firely Saturday, though!

Fun game tonight. Thanks for participating. Would like to finish up if we can find a mutually agreeable time between now and Monday morning.
M

Looks as if we'll do Firefly at 8pm in the game tent. Look for the logo on the table. Star frontiers continuation Sunday morning. Time TBD. New players welcome.
M

Sovereign Court

sunday afternoon would work for me ... I think it would be a great way to end the con.

Afternoon? What time?

I have to bow out of finishing the Star Frontiers game, I fly out in the morning in order to make it to my regularly scheduled Pathfinder game. Thanks for the great game, I had a blast and will be digging through my boxes to find my d20 Modern books.

Hi guys. Firefly was a hoot last night. Captain Bleak sends his compliments to the stalwart crew of Babe.

We're going to continue Star Frontiers later today. Those that want to join in please find the rest of the group in the lobby. Like I said above, new players are welcome since a few have to take off today. We've got a hijacking to thwart!
M

A time would be good. Duh. How about 3pm. See the Asheville crew and the rest soon.

Scarab Sages

Aye, Captain. That was a pretty awesome Firefly game last night. I feel bad about helping the Alliance prevent another war of Independence, but still, anyone who makes a deity out of Cobb can't be trusted neither.

I just hope we got paid *real good* :)
-Janella

Very good Firefly game and the Star frontiers we started was looking good as well. Look forward to the game today.

Thanks so much to everyone that played with us. Had a great time hanging out with you guys.
