Hi All
I am looking to start a new campaign in Golarion where the PC's can be of pretty much any humanoid race. I am not that familar with Golarian so I am looking for advice. I want it to be in an area that would be:
1) moderatly accepting of almost any humanoid race. I want to let the PC's be orcs, damphir, whatever but I don't want it to be in an area that would require a lot of explanations.
2) in the Inner sea region.
3) is supported by some further book (i.e. region book, not sure what they are called) aside from the Inner sea world guide (I have that book). Please list the supplement so i can look it up.
4) I am not interested in an adventure path as this will be E6 and I like making up my own adventures. I am just looking for some assistance with background (i.e. fluff of area, major sites, towns, etc.).
I do not mind if it is a city type of area or wilderness type. The campaign will be an E6 campaign,so more of a low level area, but I can always change that.
Please help with your suggestions.
Regards

Shackles sounds like a place for you. Isles of the Shackles is the book you need.
Thanks. That is he pirate place. I can see that area being very interesting.
Is the supplement very good? I have not purchased any Golarian supplements. What is typically in a book like the isle of shackles?

Campaign setting books about regions are 64 pages long, and usually contain a gazetteer of the area described, support information (rules, hooks, etc.), bestiary and maps. Isles of the Shackles is slightly different in that it has just the gazetteer and a double-sized bestiary, and it has little in the way of maps in the book itself - there's a free web enhancement for download on the product page with an uber-cool map, so it's not a big issue.
The book itself is great. You will find a dazzling variety of areas and hooks (almost every classic pirate/sea-related trope turns up at some point, and there are lots of original new ideas). It fits a "motley bunch" group of varied races very well, because in Shackles, the only thing that counts is how much of a sea dog art thou, yarrrrrrrrrrrr!

The River Kingdoms is another place that has a diverse lot of people. Most of the inhabitants are an unruly lot. It's also right next to Ustalav, which is a vampire rich area (in fact I think the alignment of that area is NE)!!! This would make it very plausible that there is a damphir in the group
Absalom is a natural choice. I mean it's the city at the center of the world! "More so than anywhere else on Golarion, Absalom plays home to every conceivable type of inhabitant. While primarily a human settlement, members of all races, religions and homelands can be seen in (and under) the streets of the City in the Center of the World." You could host an entire campaign that takes place in Absalom and go from levels 1-20, and even beyond with the plane of shadows through visiting Shadow Absalom!
Absalom is a huge port town, with areas that are considered outside the city as well. Absalom and Shadow Absalom have both been written about in campaign setting guides. Also, There is a guide to the river kingdoms.

Kaer Maga is insanely good for this sort of thing, and you have a ton of thematic range to work with in that locale.
I agree with Andoran making a pretty good fit for this sort of thing too, for more obviously heroic games.
Molthrune shouldn't be discounted either, as monstrous armies in service to the state are right there out of the box, though they lean more heavily towards the lawful types. That particular culture might feel a bit too restrictive to your players possibly, but it offers a great point of origin should they with to defect to, say, Nirmathas. ;)

agree with everything above...
Kaer Maga itself is great, and you're semi-close to the Orcish Hold of Belkzen which is kind of a hub of trade traffic between the North and the real Inner Sea region... They may be rude and crude, but that probably goes equally to all races. Riddleport is also another 'side trip' option from Kaer Maga, that should be more accepting than most, given it's pirate vibe (probably not as cosmopolitan as the Shackles or Katapesh, but more than most any other Chelish or Taldan areas). Those areas might also give you options to mix things up from Kaer Maga's anything goes freak show, to dropping in a bit more provincialism, without necessarily going into 'lynch greens on sight' territory.
I had thought of Molthune as well, there is a huge Lawful feel there, but more 'monstrous' races shouldnt have that much of a problem as long as they have a good reason to be working with the society there... Some defection to Nirmathas is also likely, as Mikaze says... Although Nirmathans seem likely to hold some prejudice against the multi-racial soldiery of Molthune that is used against them... since they otherwise hail from a similar cultural background and mostly have a political conflict with Molthune (not racial), accepting deserters doesn't seem far-fetched.
The Shackles is pretty much pirate free for all, and Katapesh is pretty similar...
I would qualify Katapesh as being Arabian/Persian INFLUENCED, as Kelesh Empire previously controlled it, and is the dominant modern society in the general vicinity (parallel to a resurgent Osirion, itself hugely influenced by Kelesh-derived Cult of the Dawnflower). Over-all, it's more like Eritrea, a Wild West half-way zone between Arabian areas and multitude of other Garundi cultures. But if you want to divide areas between Arabian Nights flavor and non-Arabian Nights flavor, I guess it probably does fit more in the latter.
