Is Mithral Shirt= Chain Shirt upgraded to Mithral [hence, Mithral Chain Shirt]?

Shadow Lodge

There are a few differences aside form the price. Mithral Shirt grants a max Dex bonus of +6 to AC, but upgrading a Chain shirt to Mithral doesn't give such bonus. I wanted to assume that they are the same thing since Mithral Shirt is a Chain shirt.

Chain shirt's normal Max Dex Bonus is +4. Making an armor out of mithral increases its Max Dex Bonus by 2. Link I think you're either misreading the rules or remembering something from 3.5 that maybe worked differently?

Shadow Lodge

Good god how could I miss that.

Thanks!

The only thing wrong with the mithral shirt in the book is that it weighs 10 pounds, instead of the 12.5 it should weigh. (The other mithral armor - elven chain - also has a problem. It should only cost 4150, not the 5150 its listed as.)

Grand Lodge

Elven chain is a specific armor, it needs no change.

Elven Chain is actual light armor even for proficiency. Mithral Chainmail (the base for Elven Chain) is medium armor.

In PF mithral does not reduce proficiency anymore. So yes, those 1000 extra are for that.
