Event Sign-Up question

PaizoCon General Discussion

Ok, maybe it's been a long day. Is the rating system for the lottery events only, or are you also supposed to rate the open events too?

I'm reading it as register and rank only lottery events on Thursday June 7th

Then Thursday June 14th sign up of the "open events" tab of PFS Scenarios.

Is that correct?

Scarab Sages

As far as I am aware, yes that is correct.

The event signup restrictions detailed on that page refer to lottery events. Open Events are "open" and don't necessarily require a sign up in order to attend, though it is strongly encouraged. Signup for Open Events will not close unless the given event hits its maximum.

I too am a bit confused, how / when can I sign up for the open events as the ranking system only seems to be for the lottery events

Thanks

I don't see a way to register for open events either. Maybe they open up once you get your lottery schedule fixed?

Open events become available for signup once the lottery events have been revealed.

Maybe this is a language thing, but I can see the lottery events - they have been "revealed" but I can't sign up for Open events. Does revealed mean the lottery results being revealed? Sorry if Aussie English doesn't match US English

A completely different question, which may seem a touch silly.

I'm wondering if someone can either comment or point me in the direction of a more complete description of what the definition of the "experience required" levels are?

I've been gaming for a number of years, but I'm not sure whether I'd consider myself "Advanced" or "Veteran" (and just which one of those would be a higher level?).

I just don't want to sign up for a lottery event, get really excited about participating, then let the others at the table down because I'm not "Advanced" enough.

Silver Crusade

It's not a silly question,Phineas. though it could be pretty relative. I'd say if you've played the game in question, at least a few sessions, you'd be considered experience in my book. But again: relative. For certain events that were marked with a hard difficulty, I stayed away from.

This also leads to a problem I've seen for the past three years in the descriptions: a lack of information as to what a player needs. When it says "materials provided", its not clear if the GM means 'characters provided' or not.

I mean once we reveal the results of the lottery.

Yeah, what exactly does "materials provided" mean? Thanks for bringing that up Radiarch Eklesya.

I would assume you don't need to bring anything.

I'm wondering why, when I want to make changes to my lottery event signup ratings, I get a list of zeros for all events in my list. I've already checked the ratings (0-4) for each event, and when I want to rate something differently than I have before (or rate the newly added "Swallowtail" event), none of the radio-button selections seem to be retained from my prior ratings session. It makes me wonder whether the system's recorded my ratings in the first place! In other words, it would be reassuring to be shown my previous ratings when I want to make changes to them. Why all zeros? Strange!

I got the same thing when I first went to set my preferences (on the first day of the lottery).

I went back yesterday and re-rated everything, and this time it shows my ratings. Could be a glitch that got fixed on the first day?

At any rate, you probably want to go back in and set your ratings again to be sure. The lottery's still open until tomorrow.

Leadgolem, are you hitting "Save" after entering your preferences? If you simply leave the page, the results cannot be recorded.

Did that. I'm going back in now to reselect like Pat did. Hopefully this will work or maybe explain why I didn't get into any lottery events last year! Some form of verification that entry selections have been tabulated would be helpful in the future.

I'm totally lost. How do I just sign-up for PFS tables for PaizoCon?

I'm looking at the event page, and I see all of the games being offered, but I don't see any way to register for them, despite it saying that sign-ups would be open again now.

Click the Begin Event Signup button, ThreeEyedSloth, now it goes to the regular event signup same way it went to the lottery signup before.

Grand Lodge

Thanks!

Is the Buddy sign-up gone? I can't find it anywhere on the Event Sign-Up page, despite people telling me it should be there. I'm all signed up for games, but want to try and partner up with my friends at the event.

Hello Another Event sign up question.
Can someone assist me in dropping a lottery event? I uncheck the box in the sign up for events section and the pop-up asks me to confirm this, which i do. I then go to the bottom of the page and Update/save, and it does not want to seem to be removed. I guess the Lottery Locks you in for Life! ;)

Which event are you attempting to drop?

The Buddy system is strictly about making sure that you get paired up in lottery-assigned games. Coordination on open signup is up to you and your friend(s).

Grand Lodge

Gotcha! Thanks Vic, that answers my question. :)

There was a bug preventing people from dropping some events. It has been corrected.

Thanks Ross! Well done, much appreciation to you. :)

Just a quick question - was reviewing my schedule and my Friday morning event appears to have disappeared? I was sure I had signed up for #3-25: Storming the Diamond Gate 8am slot, but now it's blank. Now that the event schedule is locked down, will I be able to try for that slot on the Friday morning?
