Land of the Linnorm Kings and Irrisen adventure path

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Well I don't really know where to discuss this but oh well. So I have read the inner guide the old and new ones and the small pamphlet, but so far pail has never really elaborated on why baba yaga stopped her invasion or how she was stopped. Also I was hoping to see an adventure path to deal or at least dabble with that but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

So I have decided to write my own adventure path going from lvl 1 to 17 with a 4-5 man party in mind. It will deal with a lot of the lore from both nations and elaborate their respective lore. If you guys have any more sources from me to pool from or suggestions to make sure this doesn't look like an adventure path of s@!* please post. Hell I might even add an npc with you in mind and I will give ya credit when credit is due.

The Midgard Bestiary has a stat block for Baba Yaga's Horsemen. I know, because I wrote it. :)

Tales of the Old Margreve by Open Design has a fine mid level Baba Yaga adventure called Grandmother's Fire (written by Ben McFarland) that can be imported to Golarion for an Irrisen adventure.

However, there is a fair chance that an adventure path on this topic will actually be the one you're describing. The campaign timeline has BY returning to Irrisen in 4713. The timeline is tied to our own calendar. The 2013 APs are going to be announced early July and mid August at PaizoCon and GenCon respectively. This topic has seen popular support from the community. It's not the most frequently suggested idea, but it's up there. It's got a chance. Not guaranteed at all, but not necessarily unlikely either.

Let your feelings be known, and otherwise best wishes on doing it yourself. I'm a fan of the concept myself and I'd love to hear how it goes!

Check out the last page of this thread for recent discussion about wanting a Paizo AP about this and please post your own wish to see it happen. It's been suggested all along, but there was a recent push in the last handful of posts.

thread is here, last page

I'm willing to bet this is happening already, and will be announced at Paizocon as one of this year's projects. It's the most talked-about potential AP in the wanted thread, and also a shoe-in for great fantasy elements. Plus, they could suggestive-sell that Giants handbook. Just sayin.

@ OP: Oh hey, look what's at Kobold Quarterly's Top Five King of the Monsters this year!

Yeah, I'm a big Baba Yaga fan, so an Irrisen AP would mean the world to me.

A Land of the Linnorm Kings to Irrisen AP is the very top of my list as far as favorite AP to see....I hope you guys are right, and something is already brewing in the cauldron ;)

Well I have decided to wait and see if anything is announced until then I am gonna write a Pathfinder Society about Land of the Linnorm Kings and their societies; even the secret ones.

For instance Land of the Linnorm Kings is one of the few places where being a werewolf is a good thing, I am gonna explain why and elaborate upon the werewolf society.

Then I am gonna talk about the forces that patrol the borders of Irrisen, and Blackraven Hall.

Just in general Elaborate more, but some of the stuff is gonna be written as a letter from my personal character. Basically a book that he has worked on and compiled to bring back to the society.

You want to know why Baba Yaga stopped her invasion of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings? One word, Fafnir. Look at the map, Irresen goes too much further West & it get uncomfortably close to his Forrest. Maybe her forces could have taken him & maybe she could have survived his curse but I can just about guarantee nobody else in her army could, and the profit to loss ratio just wasn't high enough.Especially when you consider that by that time All the remaining Linnorm Kings would be just chomping at the bit to have a go at her if she did survive, at which time she & her forces would be severely weakened.

Jim, you've certainly sold me on the idea.

Irnk you bring up a good point. I was also looking at the idea that land of the linnorm kings is the only country to accept werewolves as a gift. And I was doing some brainstorming with that idea in mind.

Bear with me here; since Erastil is native to the ulfen and he is a hunter maybe the natural born werewolves consider themselves the hunters of Erastil. And during the war they decided to unite under several different brotherhoods/clans and take up arms to slow her forces. S#$! maybe they didn't do much but IMHO it's a cool idea. Werewolf Vikings that when give into the inner Viking rage wolf out. Imagine a Small company o ulfen patrolling the border and coming upon a pack of ice trolls. Start their ulfen singing confusing them and once they are prepared to strike they go into their hybrid forms an tear them apart.

I have several names for different clans already. The black footed, the mist hides and the storm wolves. I want a couple more clans from the west side of land of the linnorm kings but each clan has its real specialties. For example the black feet can be feral savage warriors; the mist hides can be stealth fighters that use the mist to mask their attacks or bushes and the storm wolves could be more of shock tactic warriors.

mask their attacks or bushes? o.O damn iphone! ambushes!

I adore Russian folk-tales and legends, some of the awesome stuff I got from my grandmother growing up. I'd totally be down for pretty much everything about an Irrisen AP, and I'd love to work on bits of it too. Just saying in case the powers that be ever take notice of such wishes! :D
