If people in your state make less on average than people in other states, and much of the hiring came from minimum wage jobs, that is fair to point out when someone comes in touting job growth.
If 100 people making 50k a year get fired and replaced with 150 people making 15k a year, less people are unemployed, but the economy isn't particularly improved.
Cost of living makes it not matter as much to the people living in the state, but it still matters. And part of low cost of living comes from low housing costs because, well, houses are cheaper when they have a surplus of them because people don't make enough to pay for them.
Texas is a good place to live if you don't mind the heat and you have the skills so that you can get a decent job. But the average Texan makes less than the average American, and we all use the same currency. And the job growth in Texas has been largely in low income jobs.

Of course recent statistics are showing that Mexicans are returning to mexico in growing numbers bc the GDP of Mexico is growing faster than ours

Also I live in a state...Tennessee with a much lower cost of living than the national average... 60k in Tennesse makes you in the upper income whereas the same 60k in Cali or New York puts you barely above poverty, so as usual the babbling about cost of living not matter is complete and utter BS, even gas, rent and food are significantly cheaper here than many states... usually Blue states btw, the idea that the difference in cost of living is an insignificant statistic is moronic, I have lived in Chicago and SoCal as well, the difference is night and day.

By taking a look at your picture on your FB page, I'm sure you would. ;)

I just thought it funny, that the job growth that was being touted was due largely inpart to Big Bad Evil Federal Government, the very thing that Texas was against. Kinda like cutting your nose off to spite your face. But then again, having qn unemployment rate of 6% compared to 9% is a good indicator of where I'd rather be. And COL is a HUGE part of the equation. If I could, I'd move back to Idaho because I can get a three bedroom house for less than what I'm paying for a two bedroom apartment.

Aramis: "Dumas, you say?"
Porthos: "The same."
Aramis: "Pere or fils?"
Porthos: "The one who wrote the plays."
Aramas: "But that does not narrow the field, my good friend."
Porthos: "How, does it not?"
Athos: "Indeed, I know it does not, and I will explain."
Porthos: "Please do."
Athos: "Well, they both wrote plays."
Porthos: "Mordieu! Both, you say?"
Athos and Aramis: "Indeed."
d'Artagnan: "Well, to which then are you referring?"
Porthos: "I will tell you."
Aramis: "I have wanted nothing else for an hour."

This thread has been people acting like asses since the first post. Don't lay that blame at the Texan's feet.

If your state claims job growth over a period of time in which it also had unemployment numbers rise...
...you might be a redneck!
/ducks
(And yes I know Wisconsin is nominally trying to do the same thing, or at least our governor is (by blatantly fudging numbers) but we're TRYING to give him the boot, give us credit!)

And now a message from your hippy left wing gay atheist Canadian, aka Me.
Don't like Texas then don't move there, otherwise grow up and leave Texas be. That is all.
The entirety of the "bashing" on Texas was a joke on my part. The fanatical response only deepens my convictions and prejudices against Texans, however.

No idea what any of this Texas stuff has to do with the actual topic.
Anyway, as someone who lives in AZ...I can't say I'm surpised. Disgusted, but not surprised.
Yeah. Arizona always seemed kinda neutral to me, but now that I have relatives living down there and I visit from time to time, it's on my s*!* list.

I lived in Arizona for several years. What I liked about it:
1. Buying booze in the grocery store.2. The beauty of the desert.
3. My job.
4. Sonoran Mexican food (which is distinct from Tex-mex or Cali-mex food, and which I miss intensely now).
What I didn't like about it:
1. Pretty much everything else, but especially the politics and the guns.
As to the topic of the thread, I'm unsurprised that the birther movement finds allies in Arizona politics. Arizona's political climate doesn't exactly invite moderation.

Oh, but that means you got to see the night sky over the desert, which is pretty breathtaking, if you happen to be in a reasonably remote area. (And really, outside of the Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff metro areas, Arizona is pretty much ALL remote. :))

As opposed to how I claimed Delaware doesn't even exist, and no one cares. Which I feel only strengthens my claim.

I was quite young. I really didn't see much. Shame.
