First, I hate those little bastards.

Second, anyone have a good strategy to kill them?

Prefereably with a wizard's skill set

I don't play a wizard, but can't you freeze them before they run away?

Otherwise, ask a friend who plays a teleporting + dashing + cyclone monk to help you, no one can escape from a monk. :P

Yes, though I don't typically use that power so It's not available. I guess that's my answer. lol

Yeah, I wonder around with the ice beam alot. Hosing them down with it works really well.

I've killed a few as wizard and monk. I didn't have any trouble, as the imps tended to get stuck in corners of rooms.

Corenering them is the best way but yes they can be frozen and also stunned by wizards spells liek frost nova or wall of force.

But you MUST kill them in a set amount of time. They WILL use a "town portal" type spell to flee. I've had one get away from me before.

I like them in theory, but I've also had one or two run around and agro packs of elietes.

Also watch your follower. They can spot and attack a treasure goblin without you knowing it or are prepared to ambush/surprise the goblin. The templar with the charge power is a real pain about doing that, ha ha.

I haven't seen a treasure imp escape yet. Electrocute does a pretty good stunlock, it seems. Arcane orb piles on the damage on top of that.

I had one get away when I was the wizard and all I had loaded was the chain lightning and orbiting orbs.

So apparently the treasure imps have a small chance of dropping a gold head, that will allow you to enter the portals they create.

So you've just inspired me to optimize my powers so I can kill those little bastards when they arrive.

I'm thinking Frost Nova, Teleport, Ray of frost (with the more damage for longer rune)

Channeled Ray of Frost works.... Sometimes. You just have to cc them and then whale on them like a pinata that's coocoo for Coco Puffs.

That's been my plan thus far with varying degrees of success.

Sovereign Court

I killed one by running after it and just blasting the heck out of it with whatever that shock spell is called and Arcane Orbs.

I also believe you can disrupt their ability to use the town portals they open. I've encountered two so far (the first one escaped). The one who did not get away tried to open three separate portals, but they kept getting shut down when I hit the little bugger.

You can disrupt the first two portals, but the third they'll jump through if you don't kill them.

From my experience, they ALWAYS move away from you. So, using my wizard I'll hit them with Chain Lightning until they pause, then get on the far side of them forcing them back to an area I've cleared to not aggro a huge group of enemies. This is important on Nightmare and above. Then I just burn them down using Disintegrate or Archon skills. However, any spell can be used to kill them. That's my strategy with a wizard anyway.

Sovereign Court

I shoot most of them as demon Hunter and few of them escape my wrath.

Monk with the dash skill seems to do them in nicely. :D

Liberty's Edge

Its tough with a Barbarian specced for survivability. It was easy with my nova strength build, but in NM you have to give vitality some love or you die pretty easily.

I should use teleport to get on the other side of it and force it back. Good idea.

Scarab Sages

frost nova, with the rune that lowers recharge to 9s, plus the passive that lowers recharge by 15%, then blast them with whatever you have for your right and left mouse buttons.

Constant access to frost nova is actually a good idea regardless. Espically when my single player is laggy because I have to be on the internet. I kept dying last night for just that reason.
