Here's my idea:
New Feat: Metachannel
Prerequisite: Channel energy class feature, any metamagic feat.
Benefit: You may apply a metamagic feat to your channel energy. Doing so uses a number of channel energy uses equal to 1 + the metamagic feat level increase. For example, a quickened channel would use up 5 channeling uses.
Thoughts?

Hmmm....I kind of like this. Why not just make metachannel feats? The existing channel-themed feats would go under that, and then you could have like "Extend Channel: By using 2 uses of channel per round, the cleric's channel energy ability acts as an aura, effecting every creature within the aura once per round. The aura is started as a standard action but can be maintained every round by a free action." Just an example.

It occurred to me while I was sitting here planning the feat progression for my Priest. He's going to be a dedicated healer (so I don't need to worry about feats for doing damage... our party has that part covered) - and I realized that there really isn't much available in the way of feats that boost healing aside from the metamagic feats. So, then I looked at the channel feats and wasn't impressed by those either. As a result, I decided it would be nice to make metamagic feats a bit more... versatile from a healing perspective.

Just to point out that there is Quick Channel already, though that's as a move and not a swift.

I agree, I just think that a line of metachannel feats might work better than allowing metamagic to work with them. That's just me though.
