Greetings,
So I have a character concept I'm working on involving a dwarven dorn-dergar with the throwing and returning properties. The construction of such a thing, however, is baffling me.
As a double weapon, enhancements are to be applied to each end of the weapon separately. So, if I want a flaming enhancement on just one end of the weapon, I should be able to make it a +1 flaming/masterwork dwarven dorn-dergar. This gives a +1 enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls from one end and only a masterwork enhancement bonus to the other end. (So far as I could tell, you have to masterwork both ends simultaneously. If not, assume that I did.) If I want both ends to be juiced up, it's a +1 flaming/+1 flaming dwarven dorn-dergar, and it costs more.
The problem kicks in when I get to throwing. If I throw the thing, I'm only going to get one attack with it--I won't get to throw and hit with both ends under RAW. So, does this mean I can enchant just the one end with throwing to throw the thing, or do I still need to enchant both ends with throwing?
Similarly, returning?
Edit: Subject is now more general, as this is a topic for any double weapon.

I think you would only need to do one side, the one you're attacking with, you just would not have the option to throw it / have it return if you opened with the non-throwing/returning side.
+3 fire outsider bane throwing returning/+1 flaming schock keen double sword,
You would only have the option of throwing the +3 side, and it would only return if that's the side that attacked

I agree with Seraphimpunk about the double weapon only returning when using the side with the returning enhancement.
I would also like to point out that the Dorn-dergar is not a double weapon. It is a two-handed exotic weapon with the reach quality.

By gum, you're right. Where did I get it in my head that it was a double weapon?
Ah, that must be it--the fact that Dorn-Dergar Master requires two-weapon fighting. Skewed my whole view of the weapon.
Well, still a useful thread. Feel free to replace it with "quarterstaff" or "dwarven urgrosh", which was probably what I was thinking of in the first place.
