Blast stuff or control them

Homebrew and House Rules

Hmm kill stuff by blasting group of still to kill them simple.
Or
Lock them down by droping them into pits/nauseating / or other control type spells. Which takes some mobs out of combat but than we have to kill them later.

Where was it that Suggestions/rules/homebrew was a better fit? Just curious.

Good question.

I would advise you to think of this. Would you rather say, "I did 1,000,000 points of damage, booya." or say, "Here's a pit, you fall in and now you're vomiting on your feet."

Damage is easy and makes the round to round flow go faster. Control CAN be more effective, but also complicates the game and slows things down.

I think this is why blasting remains so popular even though it is often inferior to controlling.

Mix it up a well placed wall is a game changers but fireballs are so much more fun :)

And of course being able to blast and control as the situation warrants will ALWAYS be better than either one style alone.
