In response to how a person with ADHD reacts to stimulants, that is very interesting. That is one of those things I would be quite interested to learn the science behind.
In response to the consumption of phallic shaped objects jokes, oh my god do I have the perfect pun to say in response to that but I already know it would be taking things way too far. Curse my desire to keep this thread relatively appropriate! =D

Eating 'fruit cake'? How very manly that seems.
Now maybe blending the fruit cake, with raw eggs, protein powder and a dried hot pepper, then drinking the blended mixture through a bong, in one go, maybe, yes, maybe that would be almost manly.
I'm just kidding of course, you can eat a banana any way you like, and I won't judge you, well not to your face anyway.

There is no manly way to eat a banana
True story. My brother was new to Portland, OR, and was out walking when he was hungry for some lunch. He went into a bar (who eats lunch at a bar?) and ordered a hot dog. Then while he was waiting for his food, he looked around and noticed there were not many women in this establishment. By the time he realized he was in a gay bar, his hot dog was on its way, and, well, there is no manly way to eat a hot dog. (His words.)

I retract my previous statement... Can't you English-speakers leave any single term not having sexual meaning?
This leaves us with the banana in the bun. Unmanly? That was part of diet of Adam Małysz during his career. Are his successes at ski jumping unmanly?

Speaking of Pride, if anyone in the Seattle area feels like participating in the Pride Parade but isn't already associated with an organization, there's going to be a Queer Geek float shaped like a giant d20. The group putting that together is seeking volunteers to help build the float as well as more marchers!

I don't know a huge amount about it myself, but the obvious inference is that different neurochemistry is, well, different. :)

Nope. That's the liberating part about being "out."
If someone pokes fun at me eating a banana, or liking musicals, or wearing a pink shirt, and says, "That's pretty gay," I am comfortable enough to say, "Works for me."

When reading that to my fiance without missing a beat he responded: just bite off pieces in your back teeth like how people tend to eat jerky (ewww...jerky...).

Lol. Yep, I have absolutely no gag reflex at all. It’s weird too, because I didn’t train myself to be that way I was just born that way. It’s a contributing factor in why I’m just this side of unbeatable in eating contests(I could prolly make money if I pursued that actually) and is also advantageous in…

…certain other situations.

Dogbladewarrior |

Hehe, I could make all of my friend's eyes bug out if I could get rid of my gag reflex... Of course, the fact I can move my Adam's Apple up and down at will works too.
Lol, how do you do that? By swallowing hard or something or can you really just make it go up and down by itself?

Dogbladewarrior |

I must be the worst gay man ever. My gag reflex is hair-trigger.
Nah, it’s all good. I have one gay friend who dreads brushing his teeth every day because he sometimes chokes from it and he can’t even eat a couple of different types of common food because of his gag reflex is so strong as well but I wouldn’t label him the worst gay man ever. (er, actually, maybe I would but for completely unrelated reasons).
We all just have the traits we have, nothing wrong with that=)
Edit: Yes, I know what you said was a joke not a serious declaration. Strange that someone with a sense of humor as self deprecating as mine often times won't let the tiniest amount of it pass by with buddys, huh?

I had a friend make fun of my love of bananas a while ago and comment on how it seemed a little gay. In response I peeled a banana then swallowed it whole without chewing. He was like: “Damn, loving bananas may or may not be gay but whatever you just did there, that was DEFINITLY gay.”
-shrug-
impressive, sir.
I also ate a banana for lunch. Will consider using my back teeth from now on.

That is AMAZING.
If they had that in my hometown this weekend (which is Pride), I would definitely ride that float. Actually I've never even been to Pride before (that biphobia I was talking about earlier, I've been afraid to go because of that) but I think I'll take the bus down and go to the parade this year.
Sorry to interrupt guys, please continue to discuss the social merits of being able to deep throat a banana. ;) >:D

No problem DeathQuaker, Yes it is being able to have high brow intellectual conversations like this one that drew me to the internet in the first place. I'm sure everyone reading at home is significantly better off in their personal lives now knowing that I can swallow fruits whole, just doing my very best to make the world a better place, day by day, post by post.

Like I said, at will. I don't have to swallow at all, which means it's a lot easier to make it move to the beat of whatever song is playing on the radio. :)
I can also hum and whistle at the same time, but that just sounds weird.

And thus we return to the former meaning of the word queer. The circle is complete :P

So I have been thinking about perhaps joining a Pbp game or two as a player on these here message boards recently just for fun but I don’t have any real experience with doing that yet and was wondering what you guys think of this particular gaming venue and what you think I should know about it if I want to get into it.
Should I just jump in or is there stuff about how it plays out that differ significantly from a game around a table that it would be helpful to be aware of?

PBP is awesome. But it does play very differently than a game around the table. In many ways it leaves more room for roleplay, but a lot of games peter out pretty quickly when folks realize just how big of a time commitment it actually is. A lot depends on who your GM is. Check out some of the recruitment threads and see if anything tickles your fancy.
I've got a gestalt game starting up soon if that interests you. And Avalon is always accepting new players if you want to try out high level/epic play. And there's lots of other great games out there too. Whatever kind of game you prefer, I'm sure you can find something to suit you.

Ooooh those look cool, I would definitely like to join at least one. One thing though while I'm often times basically unemployed at this point in my life I have a friend that offers me jobs from time to time that are pretty work intensive so when I am doing that I prolly wouldn't be able to post for awhile here and there. I would definitely give a heads up that I was stepping out for a bit but there will prolly be a week or two here and there that I am incommunicado, would that be a problem?

You are welcome to join either or both. Your schedule won't be a problem. I have a few players who have schedule restrictions. As long as I know when you'll be gone, it's not too difficult to work around that.

Dogbladewarrior |

Cool, the high level magical school one particularly catches my attention=)
What are the guidelines for creating a character?
Also should I read all 18,000+ posts of it before joining too? (I'm down for that but it might take me awhile, I'm kinda a slow reader =p)
Oh I guess we should prolly switch to PM too so we don't clutter up this thread with unrelated details to much too if you don't mind=)

Amazingly enough I have found a place in the gaming community that is surrounded by open minded people. Out of the seven people I know who play PnPs with me, six of us are part of the LGBT community. I mean how sweet is that?!
I actually met them at our local bar! It is so nice to finally find a place I belong.

Ok, so with all those LGBT and other associated letters folks here, I would have a question directed to those who are aware of and had some experience with or at least impression of Het is Ew trope.
I'm familiar with it as a fandom thing, but I don't take slash as anything more serious than a joke for the most part. When a friend and I watch a show we sometimes deliberately treat every instance of people of the same sex being non-adversarial to each other as proof positive of repressed lust:
"Oh he didn't stab that one guy to death. They must be in love!"
The main exception being when the romantic subtext appears intentional. Then I don't really count it as shipping.

Yeah I have never encountered that in real life so I'm not really sure how to respond to it.
