Two different styles of play?

Can the PC's go different routes such as being Heroic swashbuckler's or cuttthroat pirates? I read somewhere that there was a fame/infamy scale and a loot/plunder scale, though I'm not sure how correct that is. Maybe I will just have to wait until the actual AP comes out. But my group is chomping at the bit to make PC's and I need to know what style of play is available to them.

In the Paladin thread James pointed out that either style of play is supported by the AP, but only if all the PCs are the same type.

You could do a party of heroic swashbucklers or a party of cutthroat pirates. But do not mix-n-match.

My guess is that a number of objectives in the AP will be easily solved by "doing the dirty thing" and that it will be more difficult to "take the high road." If the whole party is on-board with "taking the high road", then they'll put in the extra work. But if half the party is just saying "let's just do this the easy way" (ie "evil way") (which is what the AP assumes) you have a recipe for interparty conflict.

But until we actually see the AP, who knows?
