Wis, Int, Cha and how to interpret them

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So we have seen a lot of threads on one of these stats already but never
about all of them thogeter I think.

About Wisdom:
1.the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.
2. scholarly knowledge or learning: the wisdom of the schools.
3. wise sayings or teachings; precepts.
4. a wise act or saying.
5. ( initial capital letter ) Douay Bible . Wisdom of Solomon.

About Intelligence:
1.capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings, etc.
2. manifestation of a high mental capacity: He writes with intelligence and wit.
3. the faculty of understanding.
4. knowledge of an event, circumstance, etc., received or imparted; news; information.
5. the gathering or distribution of information, especially secret information.

About Charisma:
1.Theology . a divinely conferred gift or power.
2. a spiritual power or personal quality that gives an individual influence or authority over large numbers of people.
3. the special virtue of an office, function, position, etc., that confers or is thought to confer on the person holding it an unusual ability for leadership, worthiness of veneration, or the like.

Now Charisma sounds like the most elusive of this qualities, but its actually the one with the most clear cut effects in my oppinion(maybe because I often play charisma heavy Characters).

But how do these Stats affect your gaming?
Is a Wizard with high Intelligence but low Wisdom really smart or a Gothamist?

Do you care about these Stats at all?

Let´s hear some oppinions

First off, good topic. Too many times people only play up one main attribute and only mention their lowest stat for some players. But with this you can get a feel for the personality and mentality of the character. As for direct gaming, my fighter archer has:
Int 12 wis 14 cha 7... He's a bit comical in a harsh type of manner , but more from his actions than his words, even though the two are almost even. His comedy as some might see is sarcasm, even though he will sometimes go into periods of silence to think. He has a good bit of insight, when he chooses to give it , which sometimes can be always our practically rare. he knows most people won't listen to him until much later, because they tend to dislike some of his harsh behavior, he disregards them, but will still listen to their insight if it is useful to him and his goals and to others as a whole.

Think of Sherlock Holmes or House... I know his int isn't that high, but this is base, I do have items. Regardless, It's only in his mannerisms, not exactly how much knowledge he has. So for instance, he might kill someone a little hastily, but most of the time he knows it was for the better. (once killed a archer gnome who accidentally shot him, without his glasses on. He acted a bit brash, and launched a volley at him. By the time the third arrow hit, the guy was dead, because he had gotten away from a coot out group of some sort that had dragons as members. A member in our party is a druid who wild shapes into a dragon for 18 hrs. My archer felt bad but he didn't blame the guy for shooting him. Next thing he does is take out his pipe and burn some wise herb, as the dm calls it. That's part of his character.

He'll shoot a pheromone arrow for instance at the enemy, to mark them for said druid c but he might tell him as "take a whiff at that guy over there, and duck.." If the character can't figure that out he does let them.
