Armor Suggestion

Advice

Grand Lodge

I have a level 5 fighter who has some money burning a hole in her pocket. I just recently upgraded my weapon and picked up a strength booster, now my AC is seriously lagging amongst other players in my tier.

So . . . I want to buy some armor, but I'm not sure if simply grabbing the best available is the right call.

The nitty gritty
1. I have a budget of 6,000 gp, but my purchase limit is 8,000gp.
2. My fighter is a two-handed weapon swinger, so no shields.
3. This is a Society character, and does not have access to special materials that are not always available.
4. Since my current armor (kikko) isn't even master work you can suggest any armor type . . . .
5. BUT my character theme means she will only wear eastern-style armor.
6. I don't especially need agility or speed, so the type of armor is not important.

A friend of mine suggested admintine medium armor, which sadly I cannot afford quite yet. Should I wait another cert or two to pick up my armor?

What's your DEX?

Liberty's Edge

Here is what I’d do.

Mountain Pattern Armor, +6 (better than your +5 by 1) - +3 Max Dex, -4 Armor Check, 40 lbs, 20ft. (by far the best eastern medium armor) = 250gp
MW = 150gp
+1 Magic = 1,000 gp
Ring of Protection +1 = 2000gp

Amulet of Natural Armor +1 = 2000gp

Increases your armor class by 4 for 5,400gp.

By spending an extra 250 you could do the same with a stone coat increasing armor by 6. Although this depends on how much dex the fighter has. Two more levels and you'll be moving at full speed in heavy armor so I'd go for heavier armor if possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I've only been in one PFS game, but I believe he can only buy the ring and amulet if it's listed as treasure on his play sheet.

As far as I know, you can purchase items not on your treasure list as long as they are either in the always available list or total cost are below your purchase limit decided by faction points.

I would suggest a non-magical Stone Coat for now, and save up for a an adamantine armor later on. If you've got a good dex, save up for adamantine O-yoroi, if you don't save up for adamantine Stone Coat.

Rings aren't on the always available list, and we don't know what his faction points are.

He did say in the first post that his purchase limit is 8,000g. So I believe he would be able to buy both the ring and amulet if he wanted.

Dur, totally missed that part.
