I would agree jack except for we seem to be torn
if there is too much reward for faction missions it would lead to people playing cutthroat if it was competitive--or be "cooperate and graduate" for the most points as happens now
if there is too little reward, then people dont bother
By only removing the ties between fame and purchasing power, there's still plenty of reward to continue trying for your faction missions. Prestige purchases, raise dead/restoration/remove disease/etc without having to spend gold... However, you don't get gimped by failure, while there's still incentive for completing the missions.

Problem 4: Fame and Prestige.
A level one character undertakes a simple, usually easy to accomplish misison and gains 1 bonus Fame/Prestige. An 11th level character is undertaking a very deadly mission that the whole faction itself may be in a lot of trouble if he screws it up. He pulls it off and gets 1 bonus Fame/Prestige. That doesn't seem right.
A level 1 does something easy and now they can buy something worth 500 gold peices (yeah, we'll send an intern to the market for you). A level 11 does something difficult and they can now buy something worth an additional 10,000 gold peices.(yes sir i'll get crafting that myself)

A level one can't buy anything except "always available" items. you need Fame 5 for that - minimum level 2.
I don't like how restrictive the fame/purchases table is to be honest (now I finally found it lol). I'd like to save up all of my money and buy something expensive (SR 13 for my buckler) but I won't be able to do that until level 5! By then I'll probably have three times the cash needed.
