I'd just thought of that not too long after my post. Any other recommendations? I have this idea of my imp, Zilikshokin, having wandered through the plains and forests and essentially was cut off from Hell, so it eventually attracted a lion for security. I have the first three feats as Skill Focus (Nature), Eldritch Heritage with the Fey alternate power, and Boon Companion.
That leaves three feats open.

So the Companion feat chain for my imp is out, leaving me with quite a few feat slots open still.
I am playing an Infernal Binder Wizard and I specialize in summoning. Any other ideas guys? I'd thought of melee and having him sting people, but as a tiny creature he'd have to provoke every time he enters an opponents space, even with flyby attack.

Skill Focus: Knowledge (the planes). He can give you some advice on who to summon and who NOT to summon, maybe know some people with special abilities and all that. SF: Use Magic Device so he can zap you with wands or whatever, or zap your foes, or do something else useful. (Wand of wind wall -- very nice for covering you against archers.) SF: Bluff so he can talk to things (or deceive you about something, it IS an imp after all). Remember that whole "aid another" thing as well. And SF: Stealth so nobody sees him to target him.
Even improved familiars are spies/companions/whatever, not combat monsters. Do the math. YOU don't want to be in front-line combat. Your familiar has half your hit points so much less does HE want to be there.
