Toughness
You have enhanced physical stamina.
Benefit: You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).
It never says the fighter gets it as a free feat.

It says so under Toughness in the Feats section, but I don't see it mentioned in the Fighter class description. Is this right?
At one point in development of the Beginner Box, all fighters were going to get Toughness automatically at 2nd level. However, we found a way to introduce the idea of combat feats and still make it fight in the two-page fighter section, so fighters get their choice of a combat feat at 2nd level and don't automatically get Toughness.
However, the old language is still there in the Toughness feat. We've noted it for errata. In the meantime, go ahead and take a pen or pencil and cross out the line in the Toughness feat on page 43 that says fighters get it for free and can't select it as a feat.

Thanks Sean, good to know - I've decided I'm going to House Rule that Fighters do still get Toughness at 2nd, since I like Fighters and I think they're still a mite underpowered in Pathfinder, though not as bad as in 3e D&D.
If it were up to me I'd give Fighters a Good Will Save progression, also - so I'm keeping that +2 Will that BB Fighters get at 1st level, whether or not that's actually errata too... >:)
