So I've been playing as my pathfinder gunslinger for three sessions now, and she just leveled up. My query is (and I've done a search on the forums already)can I used the special function of my Gunsmithing feat to upgrade my pistol to a masterwork pistol, or am I going to have to spend 1,300 gold to get a brand new pistol with the masterwork quality?
The only reason why I ask is because I'm already spending gold on ammunition (bullets, doses of black powder, and paper cartridges), and spending 1300 gold on a gun seems painful when I have to replenish my ammo at the end of the adventure. I've looked around the Pathfinder Society forums and I've seen other discussions on this, but I've yet to see a definitive answer. I've looked at the advanced resources page, I've seen the argument about it not being removed, and I've looked at my copy of Ultimate Combat.
As it stands, and looks to me, I can repair my pistol and give it the masterwork quality for 300 gold.
If there is something I may have missed, please tell me. I'd like to know a definitive answer for both my GM and myself.

From Memory: Somewhere it says that you may upgrade your (Battered) pistol to a Mastwork pistol for 300gp. I know it says that, I spent quite a while looking into gunslinger. It's either in the FAQ or the Additional resources, or the guide.
This is under the Gunsmithing feat in Ultimate Combat, as a "Special" ability limited to those in the Gunslinger class.

My wife just started playing a Gunslinger, and the cost of ammo looked painful to her, too (11 gp per shot, or 12 gp per shot if you're using alchemical paper cartridges). Then, we discovered this little nugget in the Additional Resources listings for PFS ( http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/resources ; see the section on the Ultimate Combat book):
Gunsmithing does not grant the ability to craft firearms, ammunition, or black powder. Rather, it allows the purchase of bullets, pellets, black powder, and alchemical cartridges (with 1 rank in Craft [alchemy]) at the listed reduced price, but does not grant a discount on the purchase of any firearm.
That "listed reduced price" is 10% of the "retail" price.
Back to the original question: as there's nothing in the Additional Resources listing under the Gunsmithing feat that modifies the "make your battered firearm into a masterwork weapon" ability, I'd have to assume that it works as described in the feat.

I searched for this as well. Mark posted that they didn't mention that ability to upgrade in the Additional Resources because they didn't change anything about how it worked. You can upgrade as the feat says. The only change to the feat is what is in the Additional Resources the rest of it works as written.
EDIT: Here's the post

Mark clarified that this was allowed here:
Dragnmoon wrote:Does the Gunsmithing Feat in PFS allow Gunslingers or those with the feat upgrade their Guns to Masterwork for 300 GP?That's already how the feat works. Restating what's already written is unnecessary and sets a precedent I'd rather not set.

It's 10% for bullets and blackpowder, but 50% for alchemical cartridges:
Crafting Ammunition: You can craft bullets, pellets, and black powder for a cost in raw materials equal to 10% of the price. If you have at least 1 rank in Craft (alchemy), you can craft alchemical cartridges for a cost in raw materials equal to half the price of the cartridge.
So, 1.1gp for a bullet & blackpowder shot, 6gp for a paper cartridge. Callarek posted a very helpful full list of PFS ammo costs here.

Thanks for the clarification. :-)

So then if crafting for a masterwork paper cartridge typically you add 6gp. Would that make each cartridge 12gp (12gp-6gp+6gp) or would they be 9gp each (12gp+6gp)/2?
