Grease vs Create Pit

Grease area is 10 foot square

Create Pit area is 10 foot by 10 foot square

... is that the exact same are written two ways? as in 4 total squares?

It is the same. The difference is the hole has depth.

The pit has a 5ft region all around it that is sloped/hazardous, so it is 20ft square including the hazardous area.

What did you have in mind for Pit and Grease working well together?

a number of uses. when ever i play a caster i use these 2 spells in conjuction alot.

like for instance you put a pit in the ground, then you place grease in front of it. anyone running or moving towards you has to make a save or fall prone then slide down into the pit due to the pit having slopped sides. a very sexy combo for taking low INT bad guys down.
