Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

The Hawk and the Snowman

The Eye of the Needle

Favourite spy comedy?

Sovereign Court

Nice mention of Fran Tarkenton MN vikings QB!

A. I tend to not like spy comedies very much but anyone remember Spies like us?

Q. Favorite law enforcement comedy?

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop both definitely had very funny moments, but neither could really be considered a comedy.

I might argue My Cousin Vinny, but if you say that's more of a courtroom comedy than a law enforcement comedy I won't argue too much.

So I guess we're back to the original Police Academy!

Favorite Kiefer Sutherland role and film?

Super Troopers! No contest!

There are few "actors" on the planet I despise as much as this turkey, but I have to admit that I liked him as Ace Merrill in Stand By Me.

Favorite cameo role for Stephen King?

Probably David Cronenberg's The Dead Zone, with Kubrick's The Shining as a very close second.

I thought those were angels, not ghosts.

My favorite movie with ghosts is the first Poltergheist movie.

President James Marshall - Airforce 1
Rick Deckard - Blade Runner

Favorite Godzilla opponent?

Do the dancing girls from Godzilla vs. Mothra count?

If we're talking just other giant monsters, I'd probably go with King Ghidorah.

Most favorite and least favorite obnoxious/bullying/abusive spouse or parent of the main character in a biopic?

One of the best things about Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising sequence is the loving family Will would risk his life to protect.

Hollywood, of course, made his family into monsters who didn't love him...

You made me sad just by mentioning that adaptation; God, what a travesty.

Remember how in The Greenwich, it's maturity that makes Will and Jenny so awesome? Never gonna see that on screen. Remember The Grey King with its super menacing version of what I can only describe as an Old God, and the Arthurian connection? Never gonna see that on screen. Remember Silver on the Tree and the terrific conclusion it brought the series too? Never gonna see that on screen. All because Hollywood can't be trusted to make a better version of Harry Potter that was written twenty years earlier without crapping it up to eleven.

(Full disclosure: I never read Over Sea, Under Stone. Whatever, Cooper wrote The Dark is Rising first, and the publisher demanded a more kid friendly book to start the series with. It's unnecessary!)

Rant done, I now return you to your regularly scheduled Movie Game...

I didn't know there was Dark is Rising adaptation. Not that I remember much from those books anyway.

You forgot to ask a question, Geraint!

Sovereign Court

Over Sea, Under Stone is a great way to introduce a kid who read The Famous Five to the series, starts off as a pastiche of those books but then gets magical and tense in a way that Famous Five never did. Definitely non-essential though.

Doodlebug, never watch the film. Horrible.

Also, I couldn't think of a horrible parent/spouse I would describe a my *favourite*. Hmmm... how about Royal Tenenbaum?

Film family you would most like to be related to?

A: The Deschanel family just for the scenery.

Q: What is your favorite movie with a Deschanel either in front or behind the camera?

Mine:
Norweigan Ninja.....trust me its fricken awesome

Well, I just received a copy of Breakfast of Champions which I had added to the queue after reading the book.

I don't know why I can only find the trailer in German.

EDIT: I don't know if it's the dubbing or what, but after watching the trailer, I don't have high hopes.

That's not a real answer to your question, but I'm going to go ahead and move the thread along:

Favorite Bruce Willis movie?

I'm not a big fan of the "bald, squinty guy," but I enjoyed Color of Night. And I have to admit that Die Hard 1 and 3 were pretty fun.

Favorite Alan Rickman movie?

Spoiler:
Quigley Down Under!

My favorite Alan Rickman film is Sense and Sensibility but we've already fist-bumped over that hunk of manly bromance so someone else can take the question.

I have gone here before, but let's keep the game going! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II is my all time favorite Alan Rickman movie. He so became Snape that Alan Rickman was somewhere else. That's acting!

What is your favorite movie that had an actor, other than Alan Rickman, that was also in a Harry Potter movie? Also, do not pick a Harry Potter movie.

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

I think I answered this question already with a bit of Love, Actually, but if I'm hallucinating and misremembering or otherwise confused, I'll say Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Gary Oldman is very, very good in just about everything. Just to pick one of his out of a hat, The Professional was a lot of fun.

Favorite Jean Reno movie, other than the above-referenced?

Tais-toi!

Favourite French Gérard Depardieu movie?

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

Chicago.

Q: What is your favorite Richard Gere movie? I actually wanted to ask Catherine Zeta-Jones, but I think that one has been done before.

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

Pretty Woman, although I also enjoyed The Jackal, remake though it was.

Favorite actor/role from a Catherine Zeta-Jones movie that is not Catherine Zeta-Jones? :)

John Cusack, in High Fidelity.

The Hudsucker Proxy and Tapeheads.

3 Favorite Susan Sarandon movies?

I was tempted to pick Rocky Horror, but in truth I only like the first twenty minutes.

What is your favorite musical made since 1970?

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

I'm tempted to pick Rocky Horror as well, and would pick it for favorite live action musical, but I think my favorite musical since 1970 is Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

Favorite Disney (not including Pixar) movies up to 1970 and after 1970?

Forgot to ask the question.

Rank in order best to worst Rock Opera.
a) Hair
b) Tommy
c) The Wall
d) Grease

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

1. Grease
Never seen it: Hair, Tommy, The Wall :)

No seriously, I'll pass on answering to somebody who's seen the rest of em.

Here is the rank of my favorite Movie Rock Operas from the list, and not necessarily the same order when dealing with stage productions or albums:

1. The Wall - All in all.
2. Tommy - I'm Free!
3. Hair - Let the sun shine in.
4. Grease

What is your favorite movie Rock Opera? If it is in the list above, then also pick one that is not in the list.

Mazra wrote:

My favorite rock opera is Genesis' The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (1974), but sadly it never made it to the screen, and remains a mere double-album. So your question still stands.

Jesus Christ Superstar Good choice! That would have been mine too.

Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison in The Doors.

What is your favorite real musician/band from a movie?

The Beatles

Favorite concert movie?

Mazra wrote:

Do you mean favorite musician who has been in a movie as an actor or favorite musician who has played or appeared as themselves in a movie?

Either way if it's Musician appearing in a movie it's Tom Waits in Mystery Men.

If it's Musician(s) appearing in a film as themselves it's ZZ Top in Back to the Future 3.

*edit*

too slow

nevermind...

Jason Nelson wrote:

If you mean a band that doesn't really exist outside of the movie, then This Is Spinal Tap wins hands-down.

I want to change my answer!

Or, rather: The Beatles, being the best band ever, are still my favorite real band in a movie, but my favorite scene with a real band in a movie is the above.

On second thought, I change my question, too:

Everybody, list their favorite scene with musical accompaniment until I say otherwise!
