Encounters in a tower

Hi, guys need some ideas for my campaign. My players are going to fight an evil prince in cahoots with a summoner and before reaching the guy, they have to fight a mixture of their minions in the former hideout of a cult,the aforementioned tower, hidden in the desert. Something that goes well with the whole desert theme and challenging encounters? The first one is basically a fight with a flying witch and Tetori Monks to grapple the party while the witch casts spells and cackles. Something else?

Check out the spell Guards and Wards to make the tower a real pain to penetrate.

It'll make you giggle. Not on the Summoner spell list unfortunately, but who knows. Maybe he UMD's a contingency scroll when the heroes start bashing the door in.

Hard to really give ideas though without a level range you're looking at.

Animated weapons that fly off the wall while the party is going up a stairwell - preferably something with a drop off the other side. Automatic surprise round, everyone is immediately engaged in melee and probably flanked. Always a nice effect, whether its a Maul trying to bullrush off the stairs, a whip trying to entangle or swords attemting to disarm. Caught a wizard between a pair of bashing shields once... great fun :)

Goblins (or suitably tough monsters) lobbing vials of Alchemist's Fire (or other suitably damaging substances) down the spiral staircase as PCs try to climb can make for nice 'softening up' tactics prior to melee.
