The end of book 2 (Spoilers)

Carrion Crown

So I've finished book 2 with my group last night and the fight in the end was too easy. With the beast's raw power, it beat the other one to a pulp while the group kept it slowed with fire and ice spells.

But that's beside the point, the point is that the beast survived. The book doesn't seem to delve too much into details how the count and the beast would reunite. If at all. What are some of your outcomes? I'm at a loss to close this cleanly.

After the trial the book say the beast is headed to the see the count. This information is given to you by the judge.

<thinks for a moment>
Which beast are you talking about?

There is the beast(Beast of Lepistadt) on trial, and that monstrosity that has the count trapped.

I am assuming they did not fight the golem was on trial.

Oh no, I meant in the end where the Thrall is used to call the beast. After the fight against the monstrosity and the beast is still around.

The count never hated the beast. He just left him to his own devices. How they continue their relationship is pretty much left up to you if the PC's don't turn the count in for his experiments.

I would have had the count say he would be more responsible for the beast, and keep it out of trouble. The beast seemed to want to get away from the city and go "home" anyway so that would close the chapter on both of them.

Hey, at least it sounds as if your Aberrant Promethean lasted more than half a round. Our Gunslinger almost single-killed the monster with three shots ( one critical ).

I am kinda terrified that the last encounter of the AP will go the same way. Why exactly did Paizo introduce damage dealer classes which attack touch AC? :-/

Our gun slinger died in the haunting of harrowstone by the animated straitjacket (after he wandered off alone) :)

But the party managed to kill the promethean BEFORE the beast arrived.

Liberty's Edge

That is why I modified the beast and the promethean to have DR 15/adamantine or flesh golem. They already got the idea that flesh golems can be tough and the golem expert from Lepidstadt University warned them about "advanced" flesh golems and how difficult it is to destroy them and how they overcome each others resistances. This way, defeating the promethian will almost require the use of the Beast. I did not allow gun slingers, ninja, or samurai in the campaign.

i plan on not mentioning the bondslave thrall, see how the party does on their own:)

My PCs would have definitely died were it not for the Beast. As it was, I played the Promethean stupid enough that it wouldn't kill them all in 4 rounds giving them time for the Beast to arrive to help save the day.

Even then, the Beast was a round from being destroyed when they finally struck the Promethean down.

I have several well-optimized characters so the Promethean really isn't a joke unless (as my group would have done had the weather not been dangerous) they go get the Beast first and then pile on behind it.
