Can a gunslinger become an Arcane Archer?

Advice

Is there any mechanical reason why a Gunslinger cannot (or, more importantly, SHOULD not) become an Arcane Archer if the requirements are tweaked to swap bow proficiency with firearms?

When you speak of tweaking rules, anything can happen.

The Exchange

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that a regular AA attack regular AC, while the proposed Arcane Gunman would attack touch AC at close range. There may be other things, but I'm not familiar enough with either the AA or gunslinger to really determine what they might be.

I don't see why not. The only thing I wondered about was whether the distance ability does anything to touch attacks at close range, but I imagine that has been hashed out in another thread. I don't see anything indicating it changes it in any way, so really there's nothing to worry about.

I understand that by "tweaking" you mean just replacing the word "bow" with the word "firearm," and the word "arrow" with the word "bullet," so don't think that needed attention.

Yes, that is what I meant by tweaking -- just changing the verbiage.
