Paul - I thought you put The Green Market up on Warhorn, but it seems to have gone missing. Is that still the plan?
We decided, since the next official APL meeting is on Groundhog's Day, that all the GMs should run a game that they've run before (in reference to the 1994 Bill Murray movie). You will see that trend once enough people sign up to run games.
There may be a push for GMs to run a game that they ran at SCARAB, but not all of the GMs running games that weekend will have gone to SCARAB, so we'll not be so restrictive...
Never fear - The Green Market will be coming soon.

OOOOOH. Look who's a DEDICATED VOTER (points up).
I feel inadequate.
Well, it's been more a matter of verifying if my submission survived the initial 10% cut (thankfully I did not make any glaring errors) and then to see if I survived the bottom 25% cull (which I did). I was close to Dedicated before I saw my item for the first time ... and then reached Dedicated while checking for it post cull ... and then I voted some more. ;)
Not sure if it's top 32 worthy, but to know that it's in the top 67.5% is something. I just hope they don't do another culling otherwise I may reach Marathon. ;)

Oh yes, the dandy. Nah, no problem there. Taldor does have a vast contingent which is focused on fashion.

Good Thursday morning, my APL Archons. Hope you're all doing well.
The APL Shadow Lodge will be opening their doors this coming Friday at the Wyvern's Tale. A pair of doozies for y'all as presented by Galen and AlyGlows - Delirium's Tangle and The Haunting of Hinojai. Rumor has it that other scenarios will be added if more people show up. Go Go Shadow Lodge! Where do you sign up?
What's going on on Saturday? Well, we're having a pre-SCARAB PFS character carwash at the WT! It doesn't matter if you're going to the most awesome gaming convention in the Southeast (SCARAB!) or not; bring your rusty dusty PFS characters in and we'll give them a tune up! We'll be printing out chronicle sheets, calculating prestige points, suggesting magical items to buy, tweaking, ratcheting, and cranking your characters to a shiny sparkly finish. Yours truly and the Righteous Jake will be in the house helping you get your existing characters buffed. We'll have HeroLab available for use as well, so come on down sometime on Saturday afternoon.
SCARAB starts on Friday down in Columbia, SC, so the APL will be kinda dead, right? WRONG. When the cats are away, the Shadow Lodge will play. The Shadow Lodge will be taking over the APL next Saturday, and they have a bevy of games lined up for your non-SCARAB pleasure, including a number of modules. Check out Warhorn and sign up if you're not hanging in SC with the SCARAB crew.
February 2 (Groundhog's Day) will be the date for our next official APL meeting. In honor of Pawnxatawney Phil, we'll be doing something special with our games on that day: all GMs are requested to run a game that they've ALREADY run at the APL. It's our version of Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. If you're interested in running a game, sign up or let us know!
And finally, back by popular demand, it's So You Wanna Be a PFS GM? now with official GM 101 street credit! February 9th at the Wyvern's Tale, we'll be bringing back the Deck of Many Things for another go-round. If you've ever thought about being a PFS GM, or you just want to get together and laugh really hard, come on by. Sign up is live on Warhorn now.
That is all for now, people. See you around the Lodge!

Ok guys, this may seem to be a dense question, but what Paizo products do I burn my hard-earned cash on to get more info on A) Tengus as a Society legal PC race and B) more info on the Dragon Empires and their cultures? I know little or nothing about them. Also, are there any resources on the impossible kingdoms? (I think not.)
dinketry Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin |
Hey Aravandor,
I would highly recommend the Advanced Race Guide for tengu info.
Also, I love both the Dragon Empires Primer as well as the Dragon Empires Gazetteer. Both have differing types of info, and they're both soft-cover (so they're friendly on the wallet).
As far as the island of Jalmeray goes.....it is an unexplored and undescribed land of impossibilities at this point...
(cue evil laugh)

APL Faction Tally (as of 1/9/13)
10.) (tied) 8PP - Taldor, *Sczarni, Shadow Lodges
*A clerical error was made in the last counts. Those responsible have been flayed.
7.) (tied) 10PP - Qadira, *Cheliax Lodges
*Now you see who was responsible for the flaying.
5.) 16PP - Grand Lodge
4.) 20PP - Osirion
3.) 23PP - Andoran
2.) 24PP - Silver Crusade
It's kind of crowded up here.
1.) 25PP - Lantern Lodge
Next official APL Game Day - Friday 1/11/13

Is it a sign up and come in for a few hours, or a be here before 3 and stick around till the end. (Setting up Asheville Mardi Gras parade that day, so time is limited). :(. Thanks.

Need to be sure about Frightful Gaze. Does it take a standard action to use?
yes and no...
A gaze special attack takes effect when foes look at the attacking creature's eyes. The attack can have any sort of effect: petrification, death, and charm are common. The typical range is 30 feet, but check the creature's entry for details. The type of saving throw for a gaze attack varies, but it is usually a Will or Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 gazing creature's racial HD + gazing creature's Cha modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature's text). A successful saving throw negates the effect. A monster's gaze attack is described in abbreviated form in its description. Each opponent within range of a gaze attack must attempt a saving throw each round at the beginning of his or her turn in the initiative order. Only looking directly at a creature with a gaze attack leaves an opponent vulnerable. Opponents can avoid the need to make the saving throw by not looking at the creature, in one of two ways.
Averting Eyes: The opponent avoids looking at the creature's face, instead looking at its body, watching its shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc. Each round, the opponent has a 50% chance to avoid having to make a saving throw against the gaze attack. The creature with the gaze attack, however, gains concealment against that opponent.
Wearing a Blindfold: The foe cannot see the creature at all (also possible to achieve by turning one's back on the creature or shutting one's eyes). The creature with the gaze attack gains total concealment against the opponent.
A creature with a gaze attack can actively gaze as an attack (standard) action by choosing a target within range. That opponent must attempt a saving throw but can try to avoid this as described above. Thus, it is possible for an opponent to save against a creature's gaze twice during the same round, once before the opponent's action and once during the creature's turn.
Gaze attacks can affect ethereal opponents. A creature is immune to gaze attacks of others of its kind unless otherwise noted. Allies of a creature with a gaze attack might be affected. All the creature's allies are considered to be averting their eyes from the creature with the gaze attack, and have a 50% chance to not need to make a saving throw against the gaze attack each round. The creature can also veil its eyes, thus negating its gaze ability.

I want to thank my players for giving me a fun time watching horror expressions to the happenings in my scenario. Seriously, this is what makes GMing awesome!
And kudos to trying the Gunslinger who critical-ed the boss.
Best quote of the game, "Oh you said someone might be a little jealous? What if they were a little Chelish?"
And best wishes to Bragg, remember death is only the beginning! The afterlife is not safe anymore, especially for people with 'Teef'.

Bragg died?!
Maybe Bragg has enough prestige to get a raise.

Sorry I didn't have a chance to get down and pick my shirt up, is there I way I can pick it up some time this week? Or maybe you can drop it at the WT for me? Or are you going to Scarab Thorynn? If not no biggie I will get it from you when I can, have had a lot of stuff goping on over the last week. Thanks!
Thorynn |
Sadly, I'm not going to SCARAB, and as I work nights its going to be difficult to get the shirt to you before the con. I'm also going to be out of town this weekend, so I'll try again the 26th and the 2nd of Feb. I may send some shirts down to the deckbox with Paul for the deckbox guys who ordered one.

I'm not able to run this week on Friday but I will be there after two I will be able to help with character creation/roleplaying help/character concept ideas.
I know I won't be running Friday (School starting plus preping for Saturday is more then enough right now)... is there anyone running?
If not we may want to change gears and do something other then scenarios like helping with characters, paper working, and...stuff?

Hey folks, Ron is looking for PFS folks to run modules for Mini-Mace in Winston Salem. January 26th.
It is an all day game fest at the Golden Corral, you basically have access to the foodbar the whole day (8am to 10ish pm?)
Not good for the New Years resolution for weight loss but a buncha fun. (I am working and cannot attend)

Have fun!
