I heart the goblin-themed ones.
Oh, and the mimic. LOVE the mimic! Thanks for pointing us towards these, Nansen!
Oh, and.....
Our current (triumphant trumpet tones) Pathfinder Collegiate Heralds:
UNC-A: AlyGlows
AB Tech: ObscureLego
MarsHill: Stupottery

Any others? I'm trying to limit one person to one college. Less volume, more personal contact that way.

Those flyers by white are great. I could grab them, Gimp out the existing text and replace it with our own no problem. Looks like standard Papyrus font. Could lift the iconic character illustrations off of that for the bookmark design too. If I add a "Copyright Paizo" to them and it should be fine.
Taking a closer look at those excellent flyers, the Paizo copyright statement is listed at the bottom. We'd need to only add our salient meeting information.

Hey Dink,
Filling out my Chronicles in advance to help save us time on Saturday night. Event#14944 and Code# APL072112 yes?

I'm sure that either Goon or Arvandor would be glad to handle WCU duties.
Indeed I would! In fact, I was thinking about trying to set up a small club here, or maybe see if the current WCU gaming club (depressingly titled "Whee Game") would let me set up a branch for table-top gamers

I'll do A-B Tech; Marshall. It's only a few miles down the road from my place.

Jake, as you can see above, ObscureLego has volunteered to cover AB Tech, and Stupottery has Mars Hill covered. If you're up for it, I need someone to make contact with Warren Wilson. What do you say?

I was volunteering for flyer duty and recruiting at the A-B Tech campus in Madison county, I will be there next semester and it will be hard for Lego to get to both campuses.

Ahhh...I see. I wasn't aware that there was an AB Tech in Marshall. I misread your offer as "AB-Tech; Mars hill". My error.
So, Asheville Pathfinder Collegiate Heralds to date:
UNC-A: AlyGlows
AB Tech, Asheville: ObscureLego
AB Tech, Marshall: Jake Dodd
Mars Hill: Stupottery
Western Carolina: Goon
BRCC: moi
Other colleges that could use heralds include Warren Wilson, Gardner-Webb, Isothermal Community, Brevard College, Mayland Community (Burnsville) and App State. If anyone who's not already detailed with a Herald would like to make contact with one of those higher learning facilities, please step forward.
Anyone from our lodge planning on attending GenCon (Indianapolis, Aug 16-19)? I know our illustrious V-C, DC2, will be heading there with his Caravan of SCARAB Madness. It'd be nice to have an Asheville Pathfinder Lodge t-shirt floating around that joint.
Also, I know of 2 people from our lodge attending DragonCon in ATL this year. I'd love to have people who attend conventions report back on Golarion Goodness that takes place at those cons to our little message board here: it's an opportunity for all of us to live vicariously through you conventioneers.
Happy Thursday, y'all.

Unfortunately due to my change in profession I wasn't able to shore up leave time for any Cons, and probably won't until SCARAB.
I think that Haywood Community College, Warren Wilson, Mayland and Brevard College are probably okay, but beyond that we're very likely stretching ourselves too thin w/r/t papering. Boone for instance is nearly 2+ hours from Asheville by driving (not as the crow flies, obviously, but ain't no crows laid these roads).
For TOGSTWDTA and other similar venues around the area, we may need fliers that don't specifically list meeting times/locations. None of those places are going to want to put up fliers directing their customers to other businesses in the area. We may consider fliers with less specificity and links to the Paizo Boards and the APL site when we do finally get that up and running.
Coffee shops and book stores and the like, meanwhile, in Sylva, Waynesville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Arden, Fletcher, Asheville, Weaverville, Black Mountain and maybe Marion/Morganton could all use a few fliers.
This should be a two-tiered approach for both the local Universities/Colleges, as well as the places where we know that folks like us frequent. I'll volunteer to put in a few miles and duties in my area (Asheville and points West) once we get our fliers finalized.

Look everyone! There's an official listing for a Pathfinder event this coming Friday! And someone (Jake) was able to fix the columns on the Warhorn site!
UPDATED AND FIXED WEEKLY SIGN-UP LINK (thanks, JD)
I agree that Haywood Community College should be in the loop. If anyone local attends any of the extended-range colleges (Isothermal, App State, Gardner-Webb) and wants to rock out the APL once they return to schoolin', have at it. But we won't make them part of our initial Collegiate Herald forays.
Just wait until you see the print media rampage that the APL is about to roll out, peeps. It makes me cry tears of cyan-colored ink, just thinking about it.

Nansen |

Cold symptoms came back, so I'm not gonna make it out this weekend. While I will probably feel well enough to play, I don't wanna risk getting other folks sick. Advanced warning though, for August 4th, I'm playing Shades of Ice, no matter what nasty, contagious bug I might have.
Also, is anyone working on text/fonts for the flyers? I've been kicking around some ideas, but haven't come up with anything I like yet. If other folks are working on them, I'll gladly defer.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nansen, you sure it's not allergies? I would just hate the fact that one of our Grand Old Men of the APL was unable to come toss some dice with us because of the weed growth in the community. Get well, man. The APL needs you.
(doing his best Uncle Sam impersonation)
(not that kind of weed)

Happy Friday people! Jake Dodd will be hosting a APL preview night tonite at the WT, complete with a Pathfinder Quest followed by card/board game fun time. Come out and join him!
SIGN UP FOR TONITE OR TOMORROW OR NEXT WEEK ON WARHORN!
A reminder that the WT opens at noon tomorrow. First game slots start at 1230pm. Get there at noon if you need character work. The APL Crier (me) will make some brief announcements at 5PM prior to the evening gaming slot (hopefully I won't interrupt the long-form module too much).
And most importantly, BRING A FRIEND! BRING YOUR ROOMIE! BRING YOUR MOM! Pathfinder Society is for everybody. We heart Greenies!
And goblins.

Quest for Perfection II: On Hostile Waters looks like most of the players are low tier. Looks like we'll be running the level 1-2 tier rather than the level 4-5. QC, I don't mean to kick you out, but with Goon dead (or mostly dead) we may not have enough high level dudes. If you've got a low level guy (or want to make one) I'd give you priority seating as you signed up first, but its up to you. Right now it doesn't look like we've got a high level game this week. Bummer.
That being said, welcome newbies! Its going to be a great game!
T-shirt update: We are up to 17 pre-orders. There is also some talk of the Wyverns Tale stocking the shirts, but the senior GMs will need to discuss an option that Simeon brought to the table. More details at 5pm tomorrow. If you want a shirt and haven't contacted me, PM me on here. $10 for S, M, L, XL $11 for XXL, XXXL. COD. For those of you not familiar with 80s infomertial acronyms (WTF is a SASE?) thats Cash On Delivery.

I'm happy to swap out my Intro Steps for a high-level game, but it would be in the 12pm slot. Do we have enough players and interest to make it happen?
As far as what game, I could run Ghennet Manor Gauntlet (Levels 5-9) if people would like.
Or I could keep the Intro Steps game for the 1230pm slot.
Can we get a vote?

Oh yeah, nobody's dead or anything, but I doubt that my father-in-law will write me into the will if I miss the family dinner at 7pm when he comes to town from Reno. I've run all the quest for perfection series before and although they are good adventures, if I run first steps/intro again I may be ill. I will prep one of them and start offering to GM soon.

Nansen |

You might be on to something with the allergies thing, Dink. I'll take a Zyrtec and see if it helps. Though unless we're discussing Neil Young, I'd like less of the "old man" talk thankyouverymuch. :-) (And if we are, it probably needs to be elsewhere, and with the volume cranked up.) Oh and I love the obits. I hope you'll keep doing them.
I did wind up fiddling around with some flyer designs last night. There are three of them, intended for three different purposes, available here. None of them feels like they're right to me. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

Aravandor |

Luth's tragic flaw that prevents him from becoming a PC serial killer is that his is a fair GM. He likes to be known as a soulless creature of evil, but somewhere deep down in the lump of coal in his chest where a heart should be he secretly delights in good stories of players beating the odds. But he will kill your character if you come down with a case of dumbass-itus.

![]() |

Hey Aly I would say that is true except that sometimes... Luth gives out dice... lol
But really by the way nice term Aravandor, heh, PC serial killer. I like it!
And in all fairness to Luth the Souless Kind"coal"hearted GM he runs a great game! ;-)
Thanks for all the fun times so far, look forward to more!!
Haza Tirlan!

Ironically appropriate really, that the Pathfinder Chronicler newspaper would misprint his obituary.

The Zyrtec did wonders, thanks Dink!
Since I'm apparently not contagious, I've signed up the Everflame slot that Aravandor vacated. That group looks like it's in bad need of a cleric, so I'm bringing Dodeka.
YAY! Nansen's on his way!
Keovar, coming from someone whose last name gets butchered almost daily, I understand the importance of a correct name. No worries; I simply want to get it right.
See y'all in a few!

APL PFS Obituary
Goln "Goon" Leapstep. Halfling Alchemist 2/Gunslinger 1. Shadow Lodge faction.
Killed in Action, 7/14/12.
Failed to prepare Reagent of Feather Fall prior to crossing that burning bridge.
I really need to update my info. Alchemist 5/Gunslinger 1.
Also, even though it was not me playing that lost the character, I have started to think of ways around this particular danger in the future, one that is more "Goon-esque" than feather fall. I'm thinking a grappling hook bullet with a rope attached? I can be Batman!

Nansen |

Had a blast again, folks. Thanks to Zlyph for GMing the very fun Crypt of the Everflame. Also thanks to the Smash (or is it Bash or Crash?) Brothers, Keovar, Sonne, and Aly for being fun folks to game with, and for being tolerant of the cowardly little gnome merchant who didn't know he was a cleric.
I've said it before, but it's worth repeating: We have really excellent gamers in this group.
