Pathfinder Online

1 to 50 of 71 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I have never been more happy that I don't play MMOs, nor more annoyed that other people do, than the past week.

I think it's great that Paizo is stretching out and all, but it's starting to seem like Pathfinder Online is quickly eclipsing the tabletop game, and it hasn't even been developed yet!

Paizo, don't make me hate you. Seriously. I have nothing against other people playing MMOs. But I can't stand the whining, the crying, the complete breakdown, and the total dominance of this one forum anymore.

This announcement was cool the first day. I was happy for you. I was sure you would do a great job. The second day, I already regretted that you made the announcement, but fine, what can I do? Now a few days later, I am ready to have nothing to do with Paizo anymore. In a few days, I went from thinking you were the greatest company around, to seriously questioning your judgment, to the edge of disgust.

Stop. Seriously, people, talk about something else before your whining destroys everything you hold dear.

The haters can now cry at me all they want. Somebody was going to say this eventually. It just happened to be me this time.

Goblin Squad Member

What are you complaining about, exactly? That people want to talk about the new thing and you don't want to talk about it and they've left you all online for a couple days and why can't things just go back to how they used to be even though within a couple weeks' time everything will be back to how it was because people will have gotten tired of talking about something that isn't going anywhere yet? Really?

You know, you don't have to read the PFO posts. They're in a separate forum for a good reason.

Personally, I'm aghast at many of the opinions expressed - many of them good reasons to be placed on some sort of watch list - but I don't blame Paizo for it.

Think of it like reality TV - you can just change the channel.

Reasons to be placed on a 'watch list'? Could you please elaborate Tarondor?

Interesting viewpoint. What kind of watch list?

There was a German art student that had an idea like this once. I wonder how that turned out.

You can allways collapse the PFO forum and forget that it exists.

That would be the best thing. If it causes you rage, then do yourself a favor and make it disappear.

Boy are you going to be mad when actual information about this MMO comes out.

Seriously, you are going to poop yourself inside out.

Now THAT is a feat that no archtype should be capable of.

So, dysentery confirmed as an in-game disease, then?

I'm joking, of course.

Still, some people want things in the game that repulse me. You know: Erotic content. Psychotic content. Gnomes. ;-)

Bahahahaha, gnomes. Or better yet, Tinker Gnomes ;D

Can you elaborate on the 'Psychotic content' note though?

No.

Point taken. All of these things should be punishable by full body release massage by a 300lb half orc hooker.

This is also a concern of mine, since one of the principals was responsible for the demise of Living City, the first D&D organized play campaign and the great grand daddy of Pathfinder Society. I see signs of the same mindset that caused 4e to degenerate into a boardgame to attract the MMO audience.

Ryan Dancey violated my puppy and turned my Pathfinder into a 4E MMO game. Tru story, bro.

Slippery slope much?

Shadow Lodge Goblin Squad Member

One positive is that people who want to criticize 4E for no good reason whatsoever will now have to avoid the whole "It's just an MMO, but on paper!" line of argument.

Liberty's Edge

Hey now, think reasonably. Don't the game, hate the players.

Erik and Lisa have already made it very clear that they will continue to produce tabletop content, because that is what they are in this to do and that will continue to be their primary focus.

I'm not worried about how the playerbase might be split by this, because I think the gaming paradigms are going to be different between the two. Plenty of MMOers still play tabletop RPGs. A few months ago, I was one of them. They are different game types, and many people want to scratch both itches.

You can read Mr. Dancey responding to precisely these detractions in this thread here. YMMV after reading, of course.

I don't really have anything to say to this except, I don't. Can you be more specific?

There's something amazing about people trying to fit mindless "4E sold out to MMO fans!!" talking points in a Pathfinder MMO forum.

I can remember the same negative attitude toward 3e back in the late 90's.

Except then it wasn't "they are trying to turn D&D into an MMO" it was "They are trying to turn D&D into a miniature game"

In all honesty I still look back on 1st and 2nd edition AD&D with far more nostalgia than I did with 3e. I used to look on third edition as the lobotomizing of dungeons and dragons for the people that were too dense to work out Thac0. Of course I was only 19 at the time.

I suggest you look at link below concerning Living City.

I remember my first D&D character had 1d4 hit points (Thief).

Don't we get 1d8 as rogues in Pathfinder?

What the hell is the deal with 2e Druids!
Back in our day you had to play 3 different classes before you were even eligible to play a druid. THEN you had to wait for one of them to die before you could get promoted!

The best thing about this statement is how true it rang, and how deeply it scarred D&D.

Lots of problems can be laid at the feet of angry wargamers.

Y'know that glitch that makes you get shunted to the last page of the subforum instead of the first? Sometimes it leads to some interesting "looking back" moments.

Not this time, though. This thread doesn't even have me in it! 5/10.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you Kobold Cleaver, mainly because I was somewhat amused by this:

Nearly three years later, the "MMO on paper" accusations continue at the same rate as before:)

Sadly, while there were some pretty funny threads, a lot of them were so funny they got locked. ;P

Look! Another Playable Goblins thread! And another! Gee, there sure have been a lot of these.

And a request for RP servers! Haha, those silly gooses, trying to stop me from roleplaying a murderous psychopath!
