I'm happy to keep playing Aedalis until the moment its convenient to retire him or kill him off but i'm not really enjoying him at all any more. That's no ones fault but mine really, as I didn't thoroughly vet the existing characters; and ended up stepping on far too many toes. Happy to stick with the game if DM is alright with me eventually phasing him out. Sorry for the hassle :(.

Working on a Dwarven fighter. Not certain how to tie him in yet but i'm liking the feel thus far. DM S i'd appreciate some thoughts over PM, especially as to creation guidelines.


Will do, in fact we can tie you in with Balani. As far as character guidelines go with average wealth for 4th. You can use the same guidelines as the start of the campaign on the first page of chapter 1. Once I look at yours and Balani's character profile we can discuss a special trait for each of you.


I will wrap things up for this today and move us forward to the next section where you will have a chance to meet Balani and possibly the new Dwarf...will be traveling tomorrow so we won't meet them until Monday though.

Alex, don't worry about rushing to finish him we can RP for a couple of days to give you a bit more time to wrap him up.

It is what happens when you have Shadow Chemosh's custom files active in Hero Lab when you are levelling up your character. :P

He is aware of the problem and will be selecting another feat. :)

I wasn't intending to start a debate but merely listing issues that I feel needed clarification with the combat. I don't even expect a direct answer or explanation. I created the list in the place where it would be answered, in the form of a combat round update, and frankly didn't think about the size of the blue post.


I am okay if someone has questions, lets just not get lost in the minutia of the game. If there is a time I forget an AOO I wouldn't remind me :], just let it go.

It did remind me to look and the creatures do have 10' reach, not 5' like I thought they were so expect those to happen in round two.
Just the jungle is rough terrain, the rocks are just decoration and you can easily step over them.
Scent is better for actively locating creatures you are currently fighting or trying to track, not necessarily those you are hoping to spot\ due to it's short range. Remember you are moving around and could have been on the opposite end of the village as they snuck up.
They have better stealth than anyone in the party except for Balani and theirs is not much worse than hers. You didn't roll well on your checks so they were able to sneak up on you.

Just waiting for map to act. With the Desperate Battler feat Kragnir has an incentive to keep ten feet away from other friendly combatants (IC hes just better when he has more room to swing his massive hammer without checking his swings :P).

Correct. REND does not require an attack roll but requires a specific set of circumstances to engage. (Usually both claw attacks to hit) A quick peek at the Chemosit shows it has RAKE instead of rend. Rake only works on (previously) grappled opponents. :P

So, if they rake, some damage to Anton and Wic did not happen*. If DM Stephen has given them rend, then Corb has taken more**. :P

*Wic would be unconscious but not dead. Anton would be conscious.

**Corb would be at -11 HP with a 12 Con score.


They have REND, rake didn't make any sense for the monster entries so I switched it in these advanced versions.
They have to hit with both claws to Rend. I did make an attack roll and it missed.
I wouldn't think of the Bestiary as canon...if the creature isn't stock I change them as I see fit :]

You have been enjoying the improved version of these beasties.

Both claws hit Corbrius, triggering Rend. I just wasn't aware rend required a separate attack roll. Its normally auto damage when both claws hit. Rend doesn't ever have a separate attack roll listed.

I'm guessing they like their meat fresh. If they slaughtered the village, then they would feast one night, but go hungry the next. This way, they probably have weeks of feeding before the few remaining villagers just flee.

Silly adventurers who make assumptions about the actions of beasts.

Maybe they were hunting different grounds until...well until fate brought you here at the right time to save the village from certain doom when there was plenty of meat here and they already exhausted their previous hunting grounds.

And there are actually 8 of you...I only added the advanced template to the creatures to make them two CR5's.

Rake make no sense to them I think it is actually a mistake in their build...
