Liberty's Edge

I know Vic doesn’t want people thinking there will eventually be a re-release of old AP’s in a single volume as he believes it will discourage subscriptions if people wait for a single book.

I get that and I understand.

That being said, I think there is a very good opportunity being wasted by not taking 3.5 Adventure Paths and updating them with Pathfinder Rules for re-release in some form.

I think a number of us would buy updated versions of the 3.5 Adventure Paths converted to the Pathfinder Rule Set.

Why not an updated release of Shackled City, Age of Worms, and Savage Tide? Not to mention Curse of the Crimson Throne, Legacy of Fire…hell they may even be able to get Second Darkness some traction, as it did have some really good parts.

These don’t need to be single volumes, but could instead be a “Pathfinder Classics” style product line for out of print materials.

You could keep pricing the same to avoid people not wanting to subscribe, and costs should be much lower since it is an update rather than a re-write.

Thoughts?

Because we don't own the rights to those, and Wizards of the Coast wouldn't let us do the latter two even when we were close partners.

The other stuff, I suppose, could happen some time (perhaps our 20th anniversary!), but it's not likely. We simply don't have the capacity to do this. The same resources that go into updating old material are the ones responsible for the creation of new material.

Wizards of the Coast actually holds the rights for those three, so they're out of the question anyway.

I don't understand why this answer isn't put into the FAQ, considering that it really is a Frequently Asked Question.

I will add it to my todo list.

It's really hard to convince them to put the effort into a reprint/update when the originals are still available for sale and sitting in their warehouse.

I only just got the last couple volumes of Curse of the Crimson Throne to complete my Pathfinder collection. There are still hundreds of each available for sale. None of them have acquired the cult status that Rise of the Runelords did.
