It's happened before. I've made a character who was cool to start with, meshed well with the group, and things were good. Then and encounter with minotaur with large great axe ended the lives of all buy my character. The new characters were fine but my character just didn't fit in. End up in game just leaving the party, it made no sense to follow them and I made another Character.
