I like my DCs being higher, but it's a steep price to pay. Maybe I want to lower them just to keep myself from taking every hit and failing every save.

Well, it's worth considering that the system does a decent job of balancing itself out. Medium (10-11) works the same as regular pathfinder, so you could aim for that if you want. However, every enemy who's good at kicking your hide is just as vulnerable to getting its own hide kicked. Pure casters are likely to want an incredibly low brave just from a gameplay perspective.

As a caster you're pretty much going to require a high faith to make it work. It's a nice little boost for the lower ranking casters, though I'm not even sure if a summoner can benefit from a high faith. Do we have offensive spells?

So here are my thoughts on our history-

Vance is really, really angry. Bisaiden seems more on the sad side of the tragedy spectrum.

I'm thinking that I'm the older brother, and probably had already graduated from the magic academy (maybe you were a year or two behind me?)

Because of the emotional angles I'm thinking that it would be neat for one of us to have been there at the time of the attack that wiped out our home.

If it was you, you could play your character as a shell-shocked survivor and I could be angry that I wasn't there to fight back.

If it was me, I could be angry from survivor's guilt and you could be sad that you never got to say goodbye (maybe your last family visit had harsh words spoken and that's why you stayed at the academy while I went home for a break or something.

Or something like that.

I also think that it shouldn't be a complete massacre. Hope that some of them may have escaped or been captured would be a fun thing to introduce to the game (and for us to argue about)

What do you think?

I really like this! Here are my thoughts:

Between our two characters, mine if far more passive. I think it makes more sense from a narrative standpoint that Vance was still at the university and Bisaiden was the one who was actually in the attack.

I think it would be neat if Vance had graduated a few days earlier and was still at the university tying up a few things before heading home. Bisaiden had gone back to the estate first to help out with a formal party for your graduation (the family wouldn't have attended the ceremony). In the two-three day gap there the whole family would have come together, all six kids (not you) to welcome you home when the estate was attacked.

Bisaiden doesn't remember anything from the attack, though. He was wounded and found alongside the road unconscious. Both of our parents' bodies were recovered in the attack, as well as three of our older siblings and a few guests of the house- leaving two unaccounted for, as well as perhaps a few friends of the family.

After the massacre Bisaiden immediately returned to school to continue his studies. He doesn't bring it up, but he's a lot more hollow than before. He forced his way through his final year of the Academy and graduated with low honors (perhaps from pity). Bisaiden doesn't shy away from the subject of the attack, but his memories of it are fragmented at best- and he's not even sure those are his or the accounts from the guards that found him.

The most significant change, though, was his Eidolon. As per the norm, a second year caller binds a minor spirit to his soul. Before the attack it had always appeared as a small fox-like trickster. But after he returned to school the Eidolon presented itself as a translucent elemental water spirit, with silver eyes and a serpentine body.

Just my idea, though. I'm open to suggestions/radical changes. :D

Works for me. That would make me the younger brother.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would just go back to school after that though. What if it went something like this-

I come home to the scene of the massacre, and find you. We spend about a week burying people, rounding up help, cleaning up the mess and looking for answers.

I insist we go back to the academy, but not for any more education. I'm out for blood. I insist we're ready and convince you to go ahead with your binding ahead of schedule. We break into the binding chamber with stolen ritual books and manage to get through the ritual, substituting the things we managed to make or steal for the components we are supposed to have.

Something goes a little wrong and you end up cutting yourself during the ritual, spilling blood into the purified water.

The Eidolon seemed to form itself out of the bloody water and take on the aspects of all the emotions you were repressing, a sort of manifestation of your Id, full of all the malice and hate and desire that you just can't bring yourself to feel.

Armed with this new power that you're a little afraid of (and I would be too if I were capable of rational thought), I convince you to go with me on my quest for payback.

We leave the school with only a note explaining what we did and why the ritual room is a shambles, and take off. (leaving something with loose ends just in case the GM wants to send people to track us down or something)

I suggest this because I think it would be cool for your Eidolon to be something primal and a sort of reflection of your character. It also ties it in a bit more with our dark and edgy theme (let's face it, we're a little emo.)

Besides, blood is like water, only a whole lot cooler. :)

Perfect! I just finished up creating Jasifaxil, and it's linked into my profile.

I was looking at Bisaiden's alignment, which I originally had as neutral good, but I don't think it fit. The eidolon and summoner have to have the same alignment, since they're basically bound at the soul. I see Jasifaxil as this angry voice constantly whispering into Bisaiden's ear, urging him to do bad things. On the whole, I think Bisaiden is a good guy, but he's seriously damaged and probably going to stray into the deep end of the alignment pool every so often. So I've classified him as neutral, with serious neutral good leanings.

same here on the alignment.

Maybe you could work in a sort of sliding scale for Jasifaxil. Right now it's like bloody water, but depending on the situation/mood/Bisaiden's alignment/emotional state it might be more bloody or more clear.

Maybe "cleansing" your eidolon could be a sort of metaphoric character arc. :)

This is really cool, by the way.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The eidolon would flush red, like blood in the water, when angry or when he thinks about the past. Otherwise it remained a placid cool blue.

Well its the price of being very magically attuned it is easier to be affected by it.

You can always take the average 11 - 10 no bonus no penalty.

Naw. I'll just deal with being fragile. It gives the character a bit of a Raistlin feel. I'm fine with that.

is this still open?
havent been able to post due to rl issues
i'll try to nail down a concept tommorow

Sure 1 spot left ^^

count me in. Looking at A blue Mage (druid)
its been a while since i played tactics, i figure a wildman could be excused not keeping up with world affairs.
But is there any role the current party desperately needs?

Dark Archive

healing if you are going to sacrifice, they have a paladin but thats is the most divine casting thing with healing there is mostly they are arcane or fighter type characters.

I see. I'll see about making something that can shoulder some healing.

how many trait exactly?

2 APG, 1 Region, 2 Campaign

Uh I'm playing a cleric (templar) unless I'm not longer a member of this campaign? Seeing as there hasn't been much in the way of posting I've wondered what is going on lately.

You are still in I forgot you were a cleric for some reason my mistake.

Jager and Zerig are still in also if Zerig doesn't forget for however long again lol.

Deylon is a DMNPC with a spot reserved for when he can

Brambleman here, with Akela the Blue Mage. Switched from Mooncaller to Menhir Savant, and I havent got gear yet (Weapon and armor aside). But otherwise stated up.

Background: Akela retreated into the wilderness to study nature and the power of the land. But recent activity from the beastmen have prompted him to return from isolation to end their menace.

Hi! I'm reviving this thread in hopes of getting 2 more players since RL has taken away some of them away and just vanished into the otherworld.

This is a homebrew campaign and you can check the first page to what it is needed or if you are interested (and lazy) I will post it here again for those interested in playing in this deadly campaign ^^

*perk* I'll have to read and catch up, but count me in for one.

Dark Archive
