I have all of the CotCT minis now. I got them just after finishing Seven Days, so I'm sad I didn't get to use all the sweet undead but one day I will!
Can't wait to start Chapter 3 with a bunch of my own campaign-specific minis as well. Can't tell you how nice it is to have 'human' versions of certain Ch 3 npcs as well as their 'true form'.

I'm glad you like them! Maybe you can use the undead from Seven Days in Skeletons of Scarwall somehow. When do you start playing Escape from Old Korvosa?

CaroRose |

May 26th....which seems like forever from now. We've been alternating my game with our Serpent's Skull campaign.

CaroRose |

Ok...how do you post yours? I can see them linked through photobucket and I'm not completely computer illiterate but what's the best way?

![]() |

(Sorry, missed your first post.)
If you have the photos on your desktop then you should be able to upload them to Photobucket (after creating an account). Once that is finished, move the mouse over each pic which shows they have links that you can copy/paste over to here. Once they're here, just use the links coding so folks can click on them! :)

First was the Red Mantis Ambush
Then there was Pilts' Patrol.
Unfortunately Pilts' Palace didn't come out as well, but I'll post them anyway.
Next came the Rakshasa Temple.
And that's what I've got. Enjoy!

Wow, great photos! I really like the one showing Pilts Palace. That's a lot of minis!
Thanks CaroRose!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Orion, those would be the GameMastery figure flight stands! Note only two per package due to how they assemble, and they hold circular bases vs square ones.
@ Callous Jack - I know! There were A LOT of dudes at Pilt's palace. It was quite the battle royale too. I think I used every single 'thug' mini in my 'shoebox of doom' (where I keep my paper minis).

Ok so Chapter 4, Session 1 saw is into the Acropolis of the Thrallkeepers!
First is a handy overhead view
Of course, the Red Mantis had 'dropped by' to threaten the group, thereby dropping two characters in the surprise and first rounds. Poor Trinia!
Note combat then had the Havero investigating. Should've taken another picture of the cluster after, when there were 4 tentacles out, 4 mantis, and then a chain devil showed its face and the paladin had a very hard time deciding what to do! Also, Krojun was kicking tentacle.

CaroRose |

@ Orion. I think there's some instructions out there somewhere. Its a free download on the site where they demonstrate with a Gnoll.
I use the normal cardstock paper you can put in the printer and buy at the grocery store/wal-mart. Nothing fancy. Then you'll need a ruler and I use something like a mechanical pencil tip (no lead out, just the tip) to score the lines a bit so they fold better. I think the instructions talk about one of those craft knives, but I just use scissors on my minis. Its easy enough. For adhesive I use glue sticks.
For one chapter, you can just store them in a shoebox of doom. Since I'm now into Ch4, I've taken over a minis tray so I can separate out my actives better. Otherwise I spend a bit of time sifting through the medium-size box for what I want.

Are there instructions somewhere for putting the paper minis together? In particular I'm wondering what weight of card stock works best and what type of adhesive to use.
Hey Orion Paxis, here's the link to the free instructions. Let us know what you think!
Link.
(And thanks for posting your own process of making/storing them, CaroRose.)

Awesome! I loved doing the Red Mantis, glad to see them in action!
How was the Havero, did you use the tentacles pieces or did you go with the pennies?

CaroRose |

I did end up using the tentacle pieces, but I didn't get to have fun using them to 'go exploring' like it talks about in the book, as the sound quickly got out of hand right there in the open.
Next session is on the 20th!
Maybe I'll pull out the minis before hand and take some straight promo pics.....

Hello Callous Jack,
your minis look reall good and I am considering to use them for an upcoming campign... but I have to admit I'm not sure how. I have a flip mat and some plastic minis, which I used so far in my games, and now let's say I want to use yours.
so I buy the PDF, download it, print it out... then what? how do I make the minis stand? is there a place where you know I might find some bases to glue the miniatres on?
thanks, and with appreiciation to your work!

Hi Lord Snow, thanks for your interest!
Here's a link to a free pdf that has instructions on how to make the paper minis. The paper minis are made so that they can stand on their own when you fold them but gluing their bases to pennies or washers for some extra weight always helps too.
And if you have the time/dedication, the link also has a post from me that sense you to a blog which gives directions on how to make the paper minis into pawns (similar to the ones in the Beginner Box).
Hope that helps, let me know if you nee any further assistance!

CaroRose |

@ Lord Snow: They actually look fine mixed with other minis as well. so say your PC group has their own minis it just makes it easy to distinguish between the PCs and NPCs/Bad Guys.

CaroRose |

Soon! Yay Cindermaw!
We're going to wrap up HoA I think the next session we do, so I'm prepping SoS as well! *mine is an evil laugh!*

CaroRose |

I'm a terrible person....I haven't posted any pictures in forever! On a related note though, I have made Scarwall! So, I will have to post those as well. Sigh...

CaroRose |

Ok, let's see if I remember how to do this! Let's see some Scarwall pics!
First I have to preface that because I'm lazy and didn't want to keep re-drawing such an extensive den of evil, I decided to buy Gaming Paper and hand-draw the entire thing using markers. This way wherever they went, there the map would be! Yes it took some time, but it was worth it. No, I didn't have the properly sized printer or the ink to print the monstrosity. So we'll deal with my three rolls of wrapping-paper-like maps on the dining room table.
Now, being too big to have rolled out all at once, it was still very difficult for even myself to imagine what the dimensions of the castle actually looked like. So I used graph paper and made a mini version of the entire castle, as shown here and here .
Hopefully, you can see why this was necessary with my scale comparison .
Now on to the minis!
Second Floor broad view .
Closeup of their first encounter with the Chained Spirit .
These aren't the best, but Nihil and her cronies totally got the drop on my PCs. Shot 1 . Shot 2
Yay!

CaroRose |

They have defeated all four spirit anchors and cleared all the upper levels as well as the main keep and kennels. They still have the hexagonal tower, guest wing, and a certain chained spirit they met already before entering the star tower.

CaroRose |

I drew out the first two floors and the main part of the heights to actual scale, and then we roll it out so if fits on our gaming table to the parts we need. It saves A LOT of re-draws. And the mini model really helped the group and myself understand what they could see from a distance, and decide how they wanted to approach/land, etc.
For example, I couldn't have told you what the tallest tower was without the model. Or the shortest. And the book maps aren't all the same size or orientation. :-)

It's a very good idea.
If I ever run the AP; I will steal it! ;-)
