Two-weapon defense

Homebrew and House Rules

Is usually thought of as a horribly underpowered feat, and I would like to give players a reason to take it without making it incredibly overpowered. My first thought is this:

Two-Weapon Defense (Combat)
Prerequisites:
Dex 15, Two weapon fighting
Benefit: After making a full round attack with two weapons (not including unarmed strikes, natural weapons or shields), you gain a +1 shield bonus to AC. When your base attack bonus reaches +4 and every four points thereafter, you gain an additional +1 shield bonus to AC.

Have any of you modified this feat?
Thoughts?
Reactions?

edit: spelling mistake

In my eyes your version seems to be pretty strong. Fundamentally, people sacrificing to use one hand to wield a shield should be the best in defense. With your version, full BaB class would have +2 shield bonus at level four, equivalent for non-magical heavy shield.

I am playing two-weapon fighter in homebrew campaign, and the standard Two-Weapon Defence with +1 shield bonus and additional +1 when fighting defensively is worth a feat. With 3 ranks in acrobatics and that feat, while fighting defensively, he gets -4 to hit and +4 to AC. Not bad. No need for Combat Expertise as a bonus.

If you want to use your version of the feat, I would suggest sturdier prerequisites.

This is a good point, the idea I was going for was that the best defense should be a good offense, but it seems I made it better than combat expertise.

I have altered the feat, pray I don't alter it any further.

Two-Weapon Defense (Combat)
Prerequisites:
Dex 15, Two weapon fighting, BaB +4
Benefit: After making a full round attack with two weapons (not including unarmed strikes, natural weapons or shields), you gain a +1 shield bonus to AC. When your base attack bonus reaches +6 and every six points thereafter, you gain an additional +1 shield bonus to AC.

Personally, I think it was fine before, and the current incarnation is still underpowered. Consider the difference between the passive defence of a shield, which you benefit from at all times, and the active defence of this feat, which requires the character to full attack. The cost of a feat should allow for the replacement of a shield, especially as full-attacks tend to be difficult to pull off reliably.

I would, however, add that the feat should conceivably apply only to melee attacks.

Noted, I think that saying that it is constant isn't such a stretch, thanks for your input.

Two-Weapon Defense (Combat)
Prerequisites:
Dex 13, Two weapon fighting (which has been houseruled to contain the entire Two Weapon Fighting chain at appropriate BAB increases.)
Benefit: Gain a +1 Shield Bonus to AC while wielding an off-hand weapon. Add the weapon's magic enhancement bonus to this shield AC.

That's mine anyway. Quick and effective.

I like it. I think I'll use that.

I would go with this.

+1 shield bonus when dual wielding.
Gain the ability to sacrifice an attack for a +1 shield bonus when making a full attack.

A lot of times you will miss with your lowest iterative attack anyways. This would let you sacrifice them for a +2 shield bonus.
