Alchemist and ranged healing feat

Homebrew and House Rules

I am playing a 3rd level Alchemist and I want to get feedback on a really cool feat for my alchemist bombs. As it turns out I may end up doing some healing for my party since we do not have a main healer. I have gotten enough gold to keep me going with CLW, but I came up with a really cool idea to take advantage of my throw anything feat. Please take a look at my idea and give me feedback on the mechanics.

The idea is a feat that converts a cure light wounds potion into a thrown contact or inhailed potion. My GM is actually cool with the idea, but he tossed in a little speed bump. For every range increment beyond 20 feet the healing goes down one die clase. 20 feet(1d8),40(1d6), 60 feet(1d4) and so on. I think this will get the job done as the primary healer since it will make up for the fact that my spell level progression is not as good as a full divine spell caster. Anybody see any problems with this feat?

That's very, very interesting. Is it only going to be CLW? If so, that's going to run out of steam really quick as a method of in-combat healing.

sounds fair to me, personally id probably just make it a bomb discovery that modifies your bombs to heal instead. But this works to

May i point you to my Physician Archetype. which could also be adjusted to a discovery if you wanted.

Like tranquilizer darts, only healing potions. Fired from a heavy crossbow. ;-)

That sounds a little painful.

I like the idea of making it a Discovery. I'll run that by my GM. If I understand what you are saying I would just be modifying my bombs to be healing potions. That's super cool. I looked at that Physician and that would be best for my group. We have not fleshed out the idea yet, but I could see this expanding out to CLW,CMW, and so on. Basically I am thinking to just use it as something to keep someone from dying until I can get to them. Thanks for the help.

I'm sort of having difficulty understanding why the die class needs to go down per range. To my mind, it sounds like an unnecessary gimp, and here's why:

If you miss your target companion, you may inadvertently heal an opponent. Even if you hit who you want to, splash healing may occur on an opponent.

To my mind, the ability itself has enough gimp built into it.
