Oh, I get you. It's just that since I know it's "Glyptodon," I don't bother painstakingly examining the actual letters present. You could put a picture of a glyptodon next to "glpytodon," "gylptodon," "gypltodon," or the like and there'd be a decent chance I wouldn't notice.
Have you ever seen that email talking about reading text that's all scrambled? It's something like:
Did you konw taht the odrer of ltretes in wdros is not trelibry ipmtnaort to wrehter you unnrstdead tehm?
It's a bit longer, but I'm not that motivated :)

Having received an education in ancient greek in school, I know that "glypto-" is correct and I even had to read your post multiple times to even notice a difference in both words, because my mind was always sorting the letters correctly.
The prefix "glypto-" comes from the greek word for "to carve", and is closely related to another, more familiar word: "glyph". That might help you remember.

This reminds me of the infamous death salad from ToH.
In a previous incarnation there was an obsure PRC called somethign like "death maiden (i think)." In fact these were basically milk maids for the Canelobras (the long necked cow things with a death stare attack). The fluff was that they made "Death Cheese."
My group to this day has a running joke about ordering a death salad with some death cheese, a death cheeseburger hold the death lettuce, etc.
