on page 116, there's a listing of all the items and their affects. One makes you a werebear, one makes you a dhampire, which i'm almost considering having Kae do, both will keep his Cha up, and i can bump con later eventually.
If the bear-blood gives you an aligmnemt shift toward Lawful Good, cause the template says they are LG, then with the shift to good, Kae hits the Raksasha blood too and goes back to neutral, and gets some abilities weee!
cause we may as well use the loot if we can't use it to get coin we get, right?

Holy CRAP! Going to look into that.

there seems to be some disagreement about what to do with the items, as they are very expensive, and now account for a respectable amount of "Coin" that is potentially useless to us unless we can sell it off to someone somewhere, especially as we just lost a crap-ton of actual coin to the erant Bron and Khro.
SO solutions, post em?
1) Sell stuff to Grishnak and keep tabs on where they go.
2) Destroy the stuff we can't use and take the losses.3) . . . ?
Ariarh has a problem with selling them to Grishnak. She does not trust the half-orc black market dealer who has his own set of "thugs". If it were up to Ariarh she would not allow such a person to set up shop in the town. Noone knows anything about him or his connection to the mysterious and fear-inspiring Mister Wu. Grishnak could turn around and sell these items to our enemies or use them himself to take over the town. And, some of these potent elixirs can bend the will of another permanently. So for now, Ariarh votes to keep the potions and elixirs locked away (in hidden locations). As mentioned in a previous posting the Efreeti Tears may come in handy against the djinn, Amun (since the Efreeti and Djinn are ancestral enemies). Ariarh is thinking about the effects on the town, populace and fledgling kingdom. Grishnak cannot be the only "merchant" to sell some of these items to, if we have considered all the options and effects of distributing such items into a community (even through a third person). We could talk to Oleg about them -- he seems to be a fine appraiser as well as trustworthy merchant.

We have come across a number of variant aberrations and hybrid creatures and Ariarh could not in good conscience agree to Kae using the potions on himself and creating some "hybrid" barbarian. He is not only her friend but also someone of high rank (on the Council) and it will set a bad precedent if the "rulers" are experimenting with such things while trying to create and maintain a "good" community.

Shaezon Silverfall |

That's some powerful stuff. The Rakasha followed by a remove curse looks to be the most interesting. Scent+darkvision has it's appeal. Though none are particularily useful. From a roleplay standpoint I don't know that I'd want to use my body as a test tube. Though it would be cool to know a werebear. ;-)

Wow, now I understand why some were saying a short absence can result in a lot of catch up on. I'm sick over the weekend, and in that time there' been over 50 posts. I've got me some reading to do.
If we're discussing keeping some of the potions and whatnot, I'd actually consider holding onto the dhampire juice. Being unable to channel positive energy, it could help in a pinch, and it does fit Kolgrym's background exceptionally well, since he's already cursed from birth by the touch of undeath. Besides, it may represent the best way of learning how certain types of undead function without actually becoming one. That would actually appeal to my character.
Does the transformation replace your existing racial ability traits, or add to them? And would certain doubled effects (such as darkvision in my case) be increased?
EDIT As as a quick aside Kolgrym would have no problem seeing the assorted potions sold off, even if there's a chance they would end up being used in less-than-savory ways. This is especially true if an established government benefits from the funds; I'm a lawful neutral character, so as long as things don't move toward anarchy he's happy as a clam.
I thought I should bring this up, as Dain keeps indicating I should find the thought of items that lean toward evil to be offensive. Pharasma's as neutral as they come, and with respect to the good/evil axis Kolgrym is as well.

Ariarh Kane |

Maybe once we get the chance to sit down with Oleg we can discuss the items we have and get a full appraisal and such on the potions/elixirs. That way we're manned with more information before proceeding with the sale or otherwise of these items. It never hurts to get a second merchant's opinion, right?

I think I'm actually going to bow out. As I mentioned before, I love the depth of the story and the work everyone's putting into things. I just can't make the time to keep up, though. Even on the days when I can check in every few hours, things move too quickly for me to actually participate in the game.
Though it's not anyone's fault, I end up being nothing more than an observer. I like a good story as much as the next man, and this one is turning out to be very enjoyable, but when I'm trying to hurry through it so that I can participate in the game I don't even have the time to appreciate everyone's work.
I apologize for leaving you without a cleric again. I simply can't devote the time this game and this group deserves. Feel free to keep Kolgrym around your town as an NPC; I was just about to go looking into the ghoul infestation, and he'd be a natural choice to run a graveyard and small temple. I'd also imagined him as a midwife and scholar; Pharasma is a goddess of both death and birth, and his background lends itself to the collection of knowledge.

Sorry to hear it. I understand I've had to do that before too.

I'm sorry to see you go, too, Kolgrym. I was enjoying your writing but I do understand. All the best to you.
I am also sorry to see you go to Kolgrym - but, if you would like, feel free to toss up a post from time to time as a sort of auxillary character. I'll keep you alive and well in the background of the town, if you like - if you want to add a post or thought, from time to time - the door always remains open for players who want to come back but have had trouble keeping up with all the postings.
:)
Anyhow, I'll keep you in, as I said - I hope you enjoy reading along, too.

As you may have noticed - we did not due the big battle tonight.
I saw Shaezon on for a bit - and Ariarh - but I didn't see Kae - and this battle was supposed to be a bit - rough.
We'll try again for tomorrow - same time (9:00 PM EST).
Alaric, tried calling you to figure out how you want your character to be introduced. If you have any suggestions, email me or call me so we can chat it out before hand. This assumes you want your introduction to be more of a surprise then simply saying "there's a strange person in the corner - he looks like X".
:)
Okay, look forward to the big stuff tomorrow, then, at 9:00 PM EST...

I am replying for our GM since he is tied up at present setting things up for tonight. The "battle" will start in 20 mins and you don't need to be on Skype; you can simply post on the board. Thanks, Shaezon. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all - I hope you had a great holiday.
I may be on the board the next two days - but I may also be off the board for a bit. I am going to try to go up and visit my grandparents - but it all depends on my car. I need to take it to the shop tomorrow morning - if it is okay to drive, I can go up to PA to visit grandparents (they have internet connection, by the way) if the mechanic says no-go - then I have to wait until it is fixed and cannot go, and then will wait here until I can; in which case I shall be on the boards while I am waiting.
We shall see what happens, but if I'm not posting until Saturday night - well, you know why it has happened.

Question: Is Star Wars The Old Republic as addictive as crack?
Answer: How the hell should I know? I've never been addicted to crack...
Well - I need to get back to The Old Republic - someone just stole my fracking ship - and they're going to pay! Once I blast my way through to the fortress out on Ord Mantell I plan on reaching out to some contacts in Nar Shada and putting a hit on the double-crosser Bantha poodu! But you can count on the fact that I plan on taking the lid of any disintigrations - Darth may not have had the ya-ya's to let Boba Fett disintegrate Han Solo, but I have no such scruples when my ship is stolen!!!
Question: Who's scruffy looking?
Answer: This guy!
For those of you who may not have noticed - I have been happily enjoying Star Wars: The Old Republic this evening - what a fine bonus to an otherwise long, but rewarding, week. How did I get the game over a month in advance? Let's just say it's an old Jedi mind trick...

FYI: Next week I have my comprehensive final for my masters program. Essentially it's a huge paper that I should be spending every waking moment on. Assuming I do what I should, I won't be on the boards very much. I'll probably still check in during work, but not much else. Just know I've not disappeared, but am just really busy.

Hate to sound dumb; but when you say "Next week" do you mean, starting tomorrow - or starting the week after this week - making it next week? In other words - I'm confused on the dates! :)
If you are gone the week starting the 4th of December, we can easily have you in and out using social stuff for you guy - no worries there. If it starts tomorrow - and in battle - let me know today - because I'll have to figure out what you want to do for NPCing...
Okay sorry for the question, just trying to get things cleared up.
