Final loot divvy was 424 each ... plus 220 (split 3 ways?) in Buttersnips "ill-gotten" gains.
Izzat correct, Heng?
I assume once we get to the city we'll just pile up everything we're going to sell, magic or otherwise, and divvy the spoils evenly?

How do I insult one of the NPCs and gift another?
The relationship 'rules' as given are a little goofy... your relationship rating always increases, but is differentiated as a friendship or rivalry, depending on how you approach that NPC... For example, Parity has a rivalry with Koya, but you gain +1 with her for cleaning up the Desna shrine in Brinewall. Since Parity helped with that, should this hurt his rivalry, or improve it (per RAW)?
There more I think and re-think about the given rules, the less I like them. While I'm a huge fan of BioWare games, and I think the companion benefits are a neat bonus for those who spend the time getting with their NPC, the rules require a lot of metagaming that (IMO) crushes the intent. I'd rather you role-play out a conversation or gifting/insulting, and reward you based on the interchange, than require a Diplo roll of any kind. Does that make sense?
So, I guess I'll make it official: no Diplomacy required (though you can push one if you think it will help). We'll keep the Relationship Scores for reference, but I'll pass points based on the Roleplay vs the Rollplay.
Thoughts? B%$+&%@% flags? Anecdotes?

nomadicc |

Speaking of... I'm assuming you're all taking your level 3 and 4 relationship points with your chosen NPC - tell me if you prefer something different. Kelda also counts now.
You all gain +2 with Ameiko for discovering her legacy and giving her the Amatatsu seal.
You gain +1 with Koya for cleaning up the despoiled shrine in Brinewall.
You gain +1 with Kelda for rescuing her from the dungeon.

Maeve Haela |

That mostly works for me, although the friendship/rivalry thing is more easily explained that characters in a rivalry are still supposed to trust one another even if they don't like each other. We're all supposedly on the same team here.
That said, the weirdness of only being able to get one point per level for roleplay was always a little strange. I suspect it was pur into place to keep the caravan or NPC interactions from taking up too much table-time, but in a messageboard with flex-time, that's not an issue. Heck, now with PMs it can even be done without cluttering up the main thread. Might be best to limit the number of boons a PC can have to two or three, rather than potentially getting all of them. Which is up as far as six, if you use the add-ons from the blog posts.

nomadicc |

The +1 per level-up is just automatic, not limited to. You can still gain additional points through interaction, and deeds in game (like above). I'm pretty liberal with those as well, vs given in the rules (like with 1 gift per level, another meta-gaming goofy bit). You can gift your friend all day long - but after a while, repetative gifts tend to have less impact...

I'm on it... I'm going to work in some NPC sidebars during the journey, but will take me a bit to type them all out.
I'm keeping track of the relationship scores for each NPC on their profile - not currently updated, but its on my list of things to do.

Tell me what you think of the new travel format, and especially the caravan encounter. I decided to roll out all the rounds to a logical conclusion, with narration of course. I think it will keep things moving along, and the caravan combat rules are pretty vanilla anyway. Let me know if that's cool, or if you'd prefer to have more direct (dice) control.
If events require a decision, I'll pause the combat for replies.

Harlan Starshine |

Man, you leave to run one little PFS module... ;)
Ok, the combat was good, in the future I think we should use our fortune-teller wagon to reroll the first miss in combat, or the first repair role. To repair that damage we need to stop moving for a day, so probably have to wait until we get to a town.

Total Wages = 10gp/month

I've added to our base stats, and given us the ability to buy 2 more wagons, one of which we should probably make the armored one and stick a ballista on it so we can survive these fights. I've set Kelda as a guard, which should also help. I assume she'll help us for free but if not I'll add her wages in.
EDIT: I've actually had to change this since posting, in order to have enough food for 2 weeks both Mal and Shalelu are out hunting instead of providing security. As of right now we have enough food for 3 more days of travel, so we may need to throw another person or two at the hunting. Do we have any other qualified applicants? Just need one rank of Survival. May skew some stats for a short time but I don't know how far we have to go and once we start running out of food it's touch and go.

I like it. I don't feel the need to roll the dice. We're not making complicated decisions in those cases. The decisions are sorta made based on who we assign where and what we do when we level up. Sorta like setting a simulation up to run vice playing a video game.
It does seem cumbersome for you, though. If it's not painful, I say we continue with it. The flavor is nice.
Oh, and I responded to Mal in game ... seemed more appropriate that way :)

BTW, picked up Hero Lab and have been using it for both Parity and for my other game I'm running. In-play tab works great for NPCs and characters to keep track of resources/hps etc. Love it. Thanks for showing it to me. Totally worth the expense.
Any word on flaws or factions? Both have places to enter but no data in the core set yet ... looked around a bit, but didn't see anything.
Oh, and I sent a message to Tim Shadow ... no response, but after some stumbling around in the help section and online, I figured out pretty much how to script the basic things I needed to be able to do (like the Chaincloth Cloak, Vanguard class and some Spell Compendium spells). Yeah, it's on, there's just no data loaded. I'm hoping it's to come in a later update (probably something you have to buy)

Maeve Haela |

Ah. I think I get it now. By DEFAULT, the only Factions unlocked in Herolab are for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. To get them, you need to check off the "Pathfinder Society Organized Play" box or the "Pathfinder Society Content" box. To get other factions, you need to buy the extra data packages associated with them (most are in the Faction Guide, some are rewritten/revised in Inner Sea Magic or a few other places.)
If you can't even get the PFS factions to appear, that should be reported as a bug (That's supposed to be Free content.)

I admit I'm lost on chronology, too but I'm OK with that for keeping the pace up, but engaged players/DM is awesome. Not used to being the guy who is pulling up the rear in posts. HA!
For a chrono-confusion example, I'm not really sure when we hit Losthome.

Oops... the overall time framework is in the travel posts, but I'll try to make it clearer in the future.

Maeve Haela |

To be honest, for most of it I dismissed precise chronology as unimportant. We know everything took place "Between Brinewall and Kalsgrad" and that's honestly good enough, except for the caravan events which I probably could have told you about when they were being worked out but promptly forgot.

DM NomadSage |

Sorry - I totally forgot to reply to your post. Short answer is no, Losthome is too small. Kalsgard for sure, when (if) you get there...
That being said, *cloaks* of protection got "removed" from the standard magic item lists in Pathfinder. There are other items, like rings, that have the same effect. Point is, a cloak of protection won't be a store-bought item - you'll have to commission someone to craft it for you.
