Ugh, there's a ton of great submissions for the CotCT. I'm torn between favoring you guys b/c you've been great players, favoring against you b/c if I take one and not all, are feelings hurt? New players are cool, but come with a risk, blah blah, etc etc!
I'm just going to try to be fair and pick a group that seems to mesh interestingly. Don't be mad at me if I leave you out! =)

then again, great rolls at the first encounter with the dragon may have given us a bit of false confidence. AC 30+ is gonna be pretty hard to hit for a mediocre BAB party. there's a reason why dragons are the apex predator...
well, if JR ends here, THEN you should keep us all for CotCT! ; )

We can do this ... we pump out damage when we hit. Just gotta make sure we hit!
True Strike/flank/aid other, ftw!
Do we have a bless up?

Heh! I don't know why I never noticed before (though I think it was mentioned way back), but there are no full BAB PCs in this group. I guess I thought the magus and vanguard were full, kinda like a ranger. Qalvanaq, especially with his +4 focus bonus, is doing better than you 4... =)

What's a horse terra cotta talisman?
Parity would like to put in a bid for the con belt :)

DM NomadSage |

Terra-Cotta Talisman, Horse
This ceramic statuette is molded in the likeness of a warhorse, and is considered a symbol of good fortune in battle. Once per day, the possessor of the talisman can reroll a single attack roll as an immediate action, with a +1 luck bonus on the reroll, and keep the most favorable result.
Also, the talisman contains the vestige of a spirit of an ancient warbeast that can be called upon once per day as a standard action to manifest itself as a phantom steed (CL 6th).

Horse talisman ... also useful. Wouldn't mind that if the belt bid falls through.

skinned obsidian steed figurine i'd guess. you got the belt, i've already got a nice one. i'll take the spear?
ninja on a horse- that's even better.
on that, i'm not crazy about the wrap thing honestly though I realize it's supposed to be our special treasure. wraps just feel more MMA than kung fu master to me. dragon hoard might be a nice place to switch out. just say the hand wraps were torn apart on white dragon scales.

Maeve Haela |

Wooot! First thing's first - HP: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
+1 to Strength.
New Spells: Windy Escape, Blink, Good Hope
...and I forgot to track how my skill points were spent, but the profile's updated.

DM NomadSage |

As far as the power upgrade goes, how about cold resist 10 and +1 enhancement bonus to your unarmed attacks (ala AoMF). In addition, you can have the option of an additional boost; your choice of: icy burst, silver, detect evil (3/day), or acid resist 5.
How's that?

Maeve Haela |

As for equipment....not really seeing anything in there. Already using two rings that I don't really want to give up for awhile (And even if I did the plan was to swap the boots for the Catfall boots - minimum falling damage but move at maximum fall speed.
The Lesser Dragon Slaying arrow will probably have some use in the Dragon Empires so we should probably keep that in the wagons.
Never really been crazy about Necklaces of Fireballs. Rotten luck with'em. Harlan, maybe? You're even more lacking in offensive options than I am.

Harlan Starshine |

Congrats on defeating Vegsundvaag! You have earned enough experience for 8th level!
As mentioned previously, we can hash out the 'power ups' on your named items. If you have a suggestion/request, lets discuss; or, if you're ambivalent, I'll take care of it.
Wouldn't mind a way to raise dead. ;)

Hey now, I'm just a slow starter! Let's not forget that incredibly lucky dispel that let everybody hit on that last turn. :D

Level 8 Oracle
+1 CHA
HP: 1d5 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Spells:
0: Purify Food and Drink
4: Cure Critical Wounds, Restoration, Air Walk
+1 Diplomacy
+1 K. Religion
+1 Perception
+1 Spellcraft
+2 Profession (Cook)
+1 Will Save
+1 BAB

Maeve Haela |

And I just realized Herolab isn't dealing with Flurry correctly - since it counts as a BAB bonus, I should be getting the second iterative attack on my Flurries (although not the second off-hand, lacking sufficent monk levels.) Corrected in profile.

DM NomadSage |

How does that sound?

Treasure break out?
1 lesser dragon slaying arrow- group
1 potion of protection from arrows-group
1 belt of mighty constitution +2- Parity
1 horse terra-cotta talisman- Parity
1 necklace of fireballs (type II)- Harlan
1 wand of ray of enfeeblement (15 charges)-?
1 ring of feather falling-?
1 +2 short sword- sell
1 mwk cold iron spiked gauntlet = 204 gp??
4506 gp/5= 901.22 gp

Maeve Haela |

Well, I believe you can qualify for Champion of Irori with just one Paladin level, which will get you more (and more versatile) smites later. Take a look. You'd have to convert, but I suspect Heng might do that at some point anyway.

i'm still half thinking of taking a level of paladin next time. without a charisma bonus I'm not getting much out of it except smite once a day to get past all DR and detect evil at will... i dunno.
Potions of Eagle's Splendor become more valuable for you, though. I'd carry a bunch of 'em around if you decide to do this. Tough, though ... 2 levels of paladin is where it's at.

![]() |

yeah, I looked at the Champion of Irori, but it doesn't really do it for me. I tend to think we're going to be running into more LE than CE enemies so smite chaos is meh. using ki for more smites is nice, but I don't think I even qualify because i don't have the still mind class ability- traded out in ki mystic. stupid arbitrary requirements.
guess i got a while to ponder anyway. thanks for the input.

Maeve Haela |

Hmm...I probably won't have time to put down Maeve's full arguments 'till later, but since part of that is going to be apparent psychology....can I safely assume Maeve knows the stuff in the 'introductory article' about Oni in general? She's run into two of them, so it's a safe bet they're a Big Deal. I'll use my Lore Master on that if need be.
