For simplicity, why don't all just pay 60 each -- 60x5=300, and have Ganit pay us back 10 each when we get loot - keeps the numbers nice and even that way.

Male Human Bard 4

I took a good look at the whip, but it's not the character's style and doesn't mesh well with the build so far.

About the other subject, I seriously don't think Bron has let too much slide; maybe he's a bad knight, but I don't see the link to this 'bandit' suspicion. Also, on James' questions, he never actually lied (only when he told he's the knight's son) and although it's for different reasons, he does feel pain at the memory of the old knight. But then that's how you spin a good lie, mixing it up with small portaions of the truth.

Yeah, I figured the whip wouldn't fit too well with what you had going on. It's really the only thing I have seen on the bard so I thought I'd share.

Call me crazy, but I was trying to find our previous posts on the subject(no luck), and I thought we had sown some of the seeds of 'bandit' suspicion early on. We drifted away from it a bit as things went on.

Lukan is no detective, so it's really up to you if you'd want our back stories to have crossed enough that this is starting to slowly be recalled by Lukan or it isn't. I could've sworn we were toying with the idea a few posts ago and you seemed amiable to it...

I imagine it's something Jameson will mention a few times as he gets to know Bronwyn but at this point he has only the vaguest suspicion about Bronwyn so he's not going out of his way to figure it out.

This is why Ganit can't have nice things lol. As soon as I get another 31gp in my pocket, I'd love to pay my share. I'm good for it, promise. :)

Someone else should hold onto the wand, so we can have multiple cures in a round if needed. So, I should subtract 60 for the wand?

I'll post IC soon, I need to catch up a bit.

By the way, I was kind of assuming you guys were reading what I say in celestial, even if your characters don't understand. Since it's not a curse any more, it's mostly fluff, but sometimes it might be fun :)

Thanks for the permission on reading your celestial. I've been wrestling morally for a while about it. One of the 500 reasons I'm looking forward to levels in rogue is the linguistics skill. It's been a while since I played a character who isn't a wizard so low Int is a difficult thing to adjust to.

I'll let Bronwyn hold onto the wand if he wants it. Ganit has turned his back on Erastil (and the rest of the Gods for that matter) for currently undisclosed reasons so he won't be using any divine magic for a while. Or unless our party is in terrible, terrible shape.

60 deducted for the CLW wand, also took 25 cp for grain for 5 days, figure that the horses will mostly eat grass, but can supplement it this way

I think Lukan is the only one in the group who actively worships Erastil if that's the case. Do rangers need to draw their magic from a divinity - I thought it was more primal magic?

Idk. It doesn't say specifically either way for Rangers and Druids. I thought of it more as a characterization thing. It will be a while before Ganit gets a spell list so if the time comes where he needs to use a spell trigger item it'll be a developing point for him.

I believe Rangers and Druids simply draw the power from nature itself and the power of all living things. That's something up for debate I suspect, but some druids are known to follow the Green Faith which is a philosiphy and you can't gain your divine powers from philosophy, ideal or fake/dead god.

I thought Ganit woreshipped Erastil as well? Huh...well eitherway it's not too important to the campaign.

Oh, before I forget if anyone' interested in joining Curse of the Crimson throne my group has gone down by 1 person (dissappeared) and I'll be recruiting again before they start part 3 so you'll be somewhat deep into the story, however I'll give your character time to socialise with the other characters and main NPCs.

If interested, here are the requirements:

build: 20 point buy
level: 7th (as it's part 3, that's the level everyone will be and cash per level is recommended, especially with the rule to control what percentage goes where.)
Classes: Core & Advanced
Feats: any from above, but others will have to be considered
Traits: As we're so far into the campaign the man responsible for gaining the trait is long, long dead. Most likely lying at the bottom of the river as Alligator poo.
Alignment: Any non-evil (certainly no woreshippers of Zon-Kuthon)

Finally, the current party:

Curnach: Human (sometimes dwarf) urban druid
Krenn: Dwarf Ranger/Fighter
Jerin: Human Wizard (enchanter)

You'll be replacing a beautiful female bard named Arianna whom I'll be turning into a NPC and then will fold into the background of Korvosa.

Spoilers are below if you want a good look at what's happened to help the backstory. Warning, they are spoilers and if you are not interested, then please do not read.

Events so far:

First the king has died and a uproar insued. Chaos in the streets as people blamed the queen for the King's death (despite his already advanced age) and those who supported the queen and didn't buy into these lies.

Marshall Cressida Kroft was known to employ a group of adventures to do quests for her in helps to quell the uproar and it worked until word spread as the Queen announced the name of her dear husband's killer, Trinia Sabor who was a beautiful young woman allowed into the castle to paint a portrait of the king to have hime immortalised, however the poisoner escaped capture somehow and in the rioting racial tensions rose as a Shoanti boy was killed in the street. The Shoanti would've joined in the rioting, but the group had somehow managed to calm them down and keep the city safe.

After a month a new trouble appeared as a boat with sails glowing yellow materialised out of the fog. The guard manned the cannons and called out warnings for the ship to identify itself, but with no response they had no option but to fire upon the vessel, not knowing the horrid cargo it held.

An outbreak of a new disease appeared on the outskirts of the city and it spread like wildfire into the city. The disease appeared as a rash that would develop around the eyes, making a kind of red mask and then growing pustuels too. It was a slow and painful death, but the heroes once again managed to help people of the city by stopping a sharlton from selling a fake elixiar, quell a wererat uprising from a adolecent who believed they should live on the surface, cleared out a mansion filled with undead and a crazy female elf, but most importantly exposed the Doctors who the queen employed as woreshippers of the Dark Goddess Urgathoa. Not only this, but inside their hidden temple of evil they were able to bring up all the notes on a cure to the plague and cure the citizens for free. Saving many lives, but there are still those who had died from the ravaging plague.

When you join the city should be in a start of calm, recovering after the disease has killed so many but everyone has venerated the heroes as champions of this city and a reward was given by Sabina Merrin herself. Now the heroes rest, wanting to celebrate by drinking and being merry.

I trust you guys, but we've had bad luck with Calistrians. One left the group after a dissagreement and the other left the group over another dissagreement. Suffice to say, it seems some people translate Calistria's teachings as being a dick.

Makes sense based on what we have done so far. Seems like this is going to be a very log AP. Any idea on how long this AP lasts in a PBP?

I figure it'd take about 4.5 years to complete the AP based on our progress. I'm not the best with numbers, but .... Here's my math: It took, give or take, 40 days to reach half of level 1, and assuming the pacing through levels continues, and someone said the AP would last till lvl 20, then that means this will take... 80 days/level x 20 levels = 1600 days. 1600/365 = 4.38 years? Is this accurate?

Your Humble Narrator

My schedule for my own KM game is 3 years and we're a very fast paced game- a year and a bit on we're near the end of chapter 2. 4 years is probably a more realistic expectation.

I have a bit of an expanded history for Ganit on a flash drive in my desk at work that will go into detail on his motives and attitude. I'll post it when I get a chance on Monday. He is a former follower of Erastil but I plan to get him back on the wagon as we get further along.

This is my first AP and my first PbP so these numbers are pretty wacky to me. It's really nice to have this sort of thing to do with your down time though. Beats stamp collecting.

I would think about the Crimson Throne but am in 5 pvp games right now. Also, I would prefer to start from the beginning. I was actually in a Crimson Throne with Kzrira, but then the DM decided to play it through Yahoo and not here and I decided that I would rather have all the games here.

Thanks for the offer though.

Oops, knew I forgot something. Should've said only core races, but consider other races too.

Going to have to say no to the Drow, but Tiefling and Aasimar and a few others I accept.

Not a problem. I had built Xel'Dren for a different game that I didn't make the cut for. If I have time for a brainstorm today or tomorrow I may submit a paladin but if you're other player's are eager to start, then you should recruit someone else.

They havn't yet finished. They're currently on the last enemy in part 2, but knowing this group they're going to toast her.

hmm, I had built a character that was going to be a Spherewalker for Crimson Throne. I kind of wanted to play from the beginning, but if you guys want a spherewalker, I believe he would be close by lvl 7. He'd be 4 lvls wizard, 3 lvls ranger at that point.

But, I could rework him into something else for those 7 lvls if it would work better. Bottom line is a Cheerful Desna worshiping varisian that wants to be a Spherewalker. I could rework it to be a spherewalker at lvl 7, and possibly a cleric or sorcerer instead of wizard for spellcasting lvls. Might do fighter instead of ranger too... let me know if your team is interested in an odd prestige class :)

Here he is as I created him a while ago, but I think I'll rework him some, may not take varisian tatoo, or in a different school. I think I'll do Fighter 3/Cleric 3/Spherewalker 1 at this point. The backstory will work almost identical (in profile), but I'll add to it so I come back to Korvosa as lvl 7, finding Lamm dead, much to my surprise and delight.

I'll post a sheet here later today as I get it figured out. If you guys want him, I'll update the profile and start catching up on the past bit of the story :).

Yeah I remember as I posted up Rise of the Runelords conversions and it seems classes and magic items have moved up first. Bestiary queue takes a while though, but I do remember looking it up in Rise of the runelords and posting it online.

Spherewalker is fine as you really want to go with it and I know you wouldn't want to play a pure cleric again :p Would be rarther boring to play the same class in two campaigns, though CotCT is a campaign a cleric would be valuable in.

Eitherway, Spherewalker is fine if you want to go with that and Desna is woreshipped both by the people in Varisia and the Shoanti tribes too.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Cambyl - if you are going to join the CotCT, go for it, if not, let me know, I can put another character. I don't have any cleric types in play right now, 2 sorcerers, 1 wizard, 1 fighter and 1 bard, so a cleric (or more likely oracle, would be fun).

Aron - if you want, let me know and I will create a character, just need to know a little about the background you are looking for so I know what to create

I'll put it together and you can see if it would fit :).

A second pure cleric, no... but a more frontline battle cleric that can turn into a swarm of butterflies... sure :D

Lol, well the Dwarf is a great Balwark against any enemy. I'll see how th ebackstories are. According to Spherewalker, your character would have to have travelled far from temple to temple and dips into all kinds of things to have fun.

Also I'd sugest for equality the prestiege class was made back in 3.5 days and since then Pathfinder increased HD so instead of D8 change to a D10. Afterall, many other classes had a HD increase. Eldrich Knight from d6 to d10 and so on.

Carina, let lose with the backstory. As I often do, I judge backstory over build and without telling you any spoilers I can say a Cleric would be best, not to mention the rest of the group are: ranger/fighter (mostly fighter), urban druid and enchanter. So a healer would go far.

backstory above should be enough as the book mostly relates to stuff in the first part, but there is extra info in there about Korvosa itself. It's quite an efficient city with having Othyogths in the sewers as a filter system as they devour all organic filth and material that flows through the sewers.

I've got the sheet worked out, but will work on the backstory and get it posted sometime after I get some food :)

How many characters do you need, Aron?

Here you go. I didn't really want to do the history in first person, but I had so much of it done that way already, I also didn't want to rewrite it all. I haven't ever built a character that didn't start at lvl 1, so let me know if I got anything wrong :). Also, I apologize if the history is too long... It just kept going ;)

Jel's Appearance:

If you catch Jel from his right side, he doesn't project a very imposing figure. His clothing is a bit worn although clearly appropriate for travel. He's a bit short, with very dark hair and the olive skin expected of a Varisian. He carries two starknives in a way that shows he knows how to use them. He has a charming smile on an otherwise weatherworn face.

However, if you catch Jel from the left side, you are immediately struck by the tattoo covering the left half of his face and left arm (actually the entire left side of his body were you able to see that much). Of typical Varisian design it is in Thassilonian script. Were you to read it, it would present a story of hardship, travel. and the night sky.

Of course, if you were to notice all of this, you would have had to get past Jel's scarf, which is hard to miss. It is an unusually deep blue that brings to mind the sky just before the black of night sets in.

History:

"I have no memory of my parents. The only family I remember from my childhood is the other kids Gaedren Lamm had enslaved. I got along fairly well, not too many beatings. I was pretty good at getting around the city so I was given a lot of tasks running around... delivering stuff mostly.

"One specific job Lamm gave me changed everything. I was supposed to deliver a package to a specific person at a specific place, but when I got there, the building didn't exist and no one had heard of it or the person I was supposed to deliver it to. Naturally I opened the package to see if I could get a clue where it belonged (I had not been instructed not to). It was a holy symbol of Desna. I was entranced. Thinking it might belong to some Clergy of the church of Desna, I sought them out. No one claimed the symbol, so I kept it, and began to learn what I could of Desna.

"I was young, and a bit naive. Desna's teachings made me start to think about finding out about the world, which I couldn't do as one of Lamm's slaves. I probably said something stupid, and he found my holy symbol... which he promptly broke in the process of beating me nearly to death. I made it to the church and they nursed me back to health and protected me, but it was an isolated life for a young boy. After a couple of years of keeping quiet and learning the ropes, the Varisian in me made me restless and I set out to explore the world. That was 10 years ago.

"I probably wouldn't have made it very far, but I think Desna was watching out for me. I got picked up by a band of Varisians who pretty much adopted me and taught me everything I could want to know about the world. They weren't very religious, but they did have a fair number of magic users, which was a bit unusual. I learned what magic I could from them, mostly in the realm of conjuring (they really loved Dimension Door for some reason). I also learned a great deal about Healing. However, it was not until Leylian came into my life that I felt like I had a plan.

"Ah, Leylian. I was about seventeen and had started heading out on my own more and more, although I always ended up back with the group when we moved on. But on one such excursion, I met her. She was an elf, or at least appeared to be one. She was very different from any of the Varisians I was with and taught me much of the world that they couldn't. I grew to know the world as a place of wilderness. We never spent time together in towns or cities, it was always in the wilderness, and I learned to survive on my own.

"She used magic all the time, but didn't want to teach it to me. She thought I should know how to survive without the aids of magic, but I still picked up a lot. Since that time, learning magic has seemed simpler. Unfortunately, I am sad to say, it couldn't last forever. We were having one of our long talks about Desna, and she was just suggesting I should visit some of the sacred temples around the region as we came up to my families camp. I didn't think anything of it, but she had never come into camp with me. As I was about to start introducing her, one of the group's seers, an older woman, pointed at Leylian and shouted. I turned to see what she was pointing at, but Leylian had gone. The old woman exclaimed that I had been conversing with some type of celestial being. I can honestly say I was a bit surprised. I don't know who Leylian really was, or what her purpose was, but she made my life better. That's all that matters to me. I haven't seen her since that day, but I figure that's because she taught me all I needed to know. I do hope to see her again....

"Things became a bit awkward for me with those I considered my family. They started to keep separate from me, and it was uncomfortable. I would have thought it would be seen as a blessing, but the old seer wasn't convinced Leylian was a good thing (I think she was offended that Leylian had not come to her). In any case, I decided to take Leylian's advice and set out to see some of the holy places of Desna. That was about 3 years ago.

"I set out on my own, a bit better prepared to face the world than when I was 12. I traveled many places. I went as far west as Magnimar and visited Desna's temple in Sandpoint. It was there that I became a Cleric of Desna. I had traveled far, but seeing such a grand temple made me dedicate much of my learning to healing in Desna's name. However, it was also here, in a raid by goblins, that I realized I would need better fighting skills if I was to remain on my own.

"From Sandpoint I traveled north, into the heart of Varisia. I sought out Desna's holy places, from small village temples, to near secret places in the heart of the wilderness. I practiced with my starknife constantly, using it as a focal point for my worship of Desna. I was often faced with creatures of the wild that disliked my presence, and I had many encounters with evil and cruel creatures. I was sometimes able to escape unscathed, but more often than not I was able to practice my healing arts as well. While I retreated when the situation was too difficult for me, I managed to eliminate much evil from the wilds as I moved through them. There are a few less goblins and undead in the world because of me.

"Before the northern lands froze me to death, I turned east and south. I joined a caravan for a while, which was a welcome change from my solo life. It made me realize that while I could journey far and wide by myself, and experience many wondrous things, I might want to share those experiences with others. I often found myself remembering Leylian, and wishing I could find her again.

"The caravan traveled all the way to Lastwall in the east. As it was breaking up, I bid farewell to my new friends and planned to set out on my own once again. I had grown strong and confident, as I found myself a match for even the guards of the caravan traveling far in the wilderness. There were rumors in Lastwall about a temple of Desna not that far away that had been desecrated by some unknown evil. I could find no one that concerned with the matter, so I set out to find the place on my own.

"I found the place easily enough. When I was close I had a dream in which Leylian appeared to me and told me that I would succeed in this most dangerous of trials, and that Desna would bless me for the service. When I awoke I knew exactly where to go, and made my way there cautiously. It was good I had had the dream to give me confidence as the temple was occupied by a terrifying presence.

"It was a demon… a follower of Lamashtu who had thought to take the holy place and make it over into a place for evil. I was frightened as I did not consider myself a match for such a demon. I will not go into details, but it was a close affair that I was not sure I would survive even when the demon lay dead at my feet. My wounds were serious and while I applied my own healing magic to save my life, I was afraid some other ally of the demon might come upon me as I rested. However, I was so tired I was unable to move, and slept at the heart of the temple.

"While I slept, i was visited by Desna. It was not a dream, even though I was asleep. Or, perhaps it was a dream, even though I was fully aware. Desna told me that I had served her more than many of her followers. She offered me the chance to become one of her devoted spherewalkers, walking the lands, spreading the joy of life that she wanted all peoples of the world to know. Who was I to refuse my goddess? When I awoke, the temple had been cleansed and I was refreshed as I had not been in a long time.

"I stayed in the temple for many days, rebuilding it as I could, and making sure no other evil creatures were lurking to reclaim the space when I left. If they had been there, they had fled. I was filled with a joy I had not known since my days learning of the world with Leylian. I knew the life I wanted to live, the one Desna asked of me, and Leylian would be proud of. I still hoped to meet her again someday, but I figured she would show up when I least expected.

"I was troubled by only one thing. The man that had destroyed my childhood and nearly killed me was still a plague upon the world. I decided my first act would be to free the other children Lamm had enslaved, and bring them the chance to have joy in life.

"I was thrilled to discover, however, that Lamm had already been destroyed by a band of heroes that seemed to have saved Korvosa from a number of terrible events. I was also a bit disappointed that I wouldn't be able to confront Lamm personally, but that feeling did not last long. I decided I would seek an audience with these heroes of Korvosa, to thank them personally for this small service they had provided me. I marveled at the city I had left so many years ago. The priests that had saved my life did not recognize me at all. It took me a long time to convince them I was who I said… but they listened to the story of my adventures with eager ears.

"I feel that I have done much in my short time adventuring, but at the same time I feel as if my journey is only beginning. What new trials does Desna have planned for me in the days to come? What new joys do I have to look forward to seeing each and every day?"

Thaedon Epsillion, Aasimar Hospitaler of Iomedae:

Thaedon Epsillion was born unto a modest Andoranian family shortly after the end of the revolution against Cheliax. His father, Agredon, had fought many battles as a member of the eagle knights and managed to grow respectably renowned for his deeds both on and off the battlefield; for it was there that he came to recognize the gift he was blessed with.

Truly a wonder to behold, an Aasimar child in the freshly liberated streets of a new country, Thaedon had inherited (and greatly exceeded) the spiritual favor his father had known. The energy of life so brightly embodied his blood, so much so that he was able to cure the wounds of a man with little more than a touch. As the boy grew in age, his talents grew in potency. He had forgone the way of common schooling; instead he spent the majority of his youth at the church in Augustana, using his gift to treat the sick.

He came to learn the ways of the sword from his father who was, in fact, an accomplished swordsman thus embodying his patron Iomedae in all respects. Thaedon enlisted into the military the day of his 18th birthday and devoted himself to the ways of Andoran and Iomedae entirely. When he wasn’t on duty with the eagle knights, he was on duty at the church or other hospitals across the city.

When news broke of the disease plaguing Korvosa, Thaedon disregarded all attempts to dissuade him from leaving to help those afflicted and paid eight months salary to be transported to the ill fated city. There he had exhausted all his resources in helping to stop the spread and effects of those who had been exposed to such a vile contagion.

Sword & Board style. If you’ll allow them I’d like to use the UM feats that augment Lay on Hands, otherwise most of the feats will be spent on shield stuff or channel stuff. I’ll write up a sheet if you choose to have him in your party. I didn’t expect to see so many people jump onto this opportunity and drive up competition but I said I’d submit a paladin and here I am lol. Good luck everyone!

How many characters do you need, Aron?

just the 1.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I am working on my background, think I know what I want, but need to put it on paper. She will be a aasimar cleric of Calistria. I know you mentioned that you had problems with Calistria above, but it fits in with her background. Hopefully will have it done this evening, have some real work to get done today or I am in big trouble.

cold iron handaxe - 6gp (12/2=6)

91 gold

Total: 6+91 = 97gp
Split six ways: 97/6 = 16.17gp

Up for grabs:
potion of hide from animals

So we can easilly split this without going back to Olegs. Someone takes the axe and 10.17gp and everyone else gets the 16.17gp.

Super close to paying y'all back for that wand. I can taste it!

Looking at the updated map... I can't recall finding a gold mine... did I just miss that? :)

you forgot 300 for masterwork quality. All special items like cold iron, mithral and ect are masterwork quality.

ammended

I trust you won't metgame and anyway, all that does say on the map is a small description. You don't actually know what's there ;)

Afterall, the gunpowder mine on the map doesn't say "Warning, 2 Fawns are in this cave" or that they are CR 2 each.

My apologies everbody, I thought cold iron and alchemical silver were the exception to that special materials rule. What did I learn? Don't think.

Mwk cold iron handaxe - 156gp (312/2=156)
91 gold

Total: 156+91 = 247gp
Split six ways: 247/6 = 41.17gp

Up for grabs:
potion of hide from animals

So if anyone has 114.83gp (156-41.17) on them, they can go ahead and grab that axe then promptly receive a 10gp rebate from your poor hippy survivalist scout master.

I was just reading about cold iron for Jel :). I got the impression you could have non-MW cold iron. Mithral, Adamantine, and expensive stuff in general is masterwork (gold, silver, etc). Bone and stone, for instance, don't need to be MW.
