Low Charisma Cavalier

Advice

Worth it in a low point buy campaign? Maybe certain Orders to avoid?

To be honest, I don't see much about the cavalier that is impacted by having a low charisma. The cavalier in my game is pure melee (str, dex, con) and I can't see where he will be negatively impacted by that array. I haven't seen any new archetypes that are in UM or UC, but there seems to be almost nothing that charisma gains you as a cavalier, except perhaps in some of the class skill areas. I was surprised it was not a bigger part of the class design.

So far I found myself being action starved and rarely am able to spend the actions to use my charisma based abilities, so so far it hasn't been that big a deal.

For this discussion I have a 9 Charisma.

If I could find an Archtype that replaces the charisma-based abilities then that would be great if there are any in Ultimate Combat (drops tomorrow!!!).

I don't have Ultimate Combat.

So far, it seems like the Order you pick will be the major determining factor in whether you can dump Charisma. The Order of the Dragon and the Order of the Shield both have nothing that is tied to Charisma at all for powers or challenge modifications.

So ... you might want to pick one of those. :)

You could really use any of the Orders for the character. Can you give any insight into your character? It may help with determining an acceptable Order for him.

Even a low charisma character can make a great Braggart.

A low CHA character, when talking about his past exploits, is a braggart. It's not a case of maybe being taken that way; he is taken exactly that way because he has a low (or even negative) CHA score.

A high CHA character, when talking about his past exploits, is doing just that. He's regaling everyone with tales of his splendor and they're happily soaking up the rays of his personal sunshine. That high CHA ensures that he knows that they love him (even if kinda smells a little like horse poopie.)

See the difference?

Don't much matter anymore, character died. :-(

I was Order of the Shield.

Ah, yes order of the shield does use cha, but order of the dragon (cavalier in my game) does not.
