Planar adventures

Advice

I was wondering if anyone has had some cool encounters with planar adventures. I am currently running a campaign for "planarteers" where they close rifts and have to deal with different plains but I am running out of ideas after the first 10 games ><

Demiplane metropolis: high HD outsider merchant hosts a party and a murder occurs, PCs arrive and almost immediately discovers the murderer. However, the suspect's lackeys have swiped the corpse fled into the depths of the city to dispose of it. The PCs know that the city's laws will only be enforced if they have a corpse to back up their claims. The host has the power to contain the suspect, but needs the PCs to hunt down and retrieve the corpse.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Some proteans got bored and decided to start creating a new reality without waiting for the current one to dissolve first. They have recruited (or captured) a small cross-section of planar populations to inhabit this miniature universe and the party find themselves part of it. Everything is closer together and runs into conflict! Shenanigans as low-powered outsiders figure they might end up gods (if in name only) of this new realm! And then it blows up or something. It's probably the party's fault.

@Umbral Reaver: Nice! Might have to steal that one myself.

The PC's arrive on a plane older than any they've seen before. Crumbling ruins ancient beyond memory dot the landscape and they find few, if any, sentient beings left. Everything has a very tired and worn out feel to it. The adventure here will be finding and defending the last Spring of Life, which is the plane's last hope for life, meaning, and existence.

I'm working on a short campaign that involves a mad wizard that's opened a vortex to the plane of earth under a major city (causing earthquakes). The PCs have to fight through the undercity, then the catacombs, before dealing with the wizard and the outsiders. I didn't write in anything specific for them to do with the vortex. It's supposed to be a sandbox style game.
