Help with a WIS Focused Monk build?

Advice

I've been doing some research and I decided I wanted to try this new Qinggong archetype. Still doing a lot of reading but I wanted to see what more experienced players could pump out.

The rules:
36 point buy
Full BAB
Access to 3.5 material if needed. [Intuitive Strike seems like a good idea.]
Ability for some maneuvers would be great
If it matters, I am taking vow of chains. [DM is giving me +2 to damage and 2/ DR for them. Also said I would enchant them later on. *shrugs*]

Anything else just ask.

get the "guided" weapon ability. its a +1 that lets you use wisdom for attack and damage instead of str

36 point buy? Good lord....

well, if non-core stuff is allowed, yes, Guided is amazing

Be a Dwarf, get a Guided Temple Sword, take Mobility, murder everything.

personally, if I were doing 36 point buy I would just
do 18 str, 16 dex, 16 wis and drop charisma to 8(or possibly drop str to 16 as well and have a relatively even spread).

after Racial adj are applied, starting scores of:

STR 10
DEX 18
CON 16
INT 8
WIS 20
CHA 7

further "optimization" allows for:
CON 18
INT 7
CHA 5

you'll hit like crap until you can buy a Guided Weapon but after that, ew

who needs ´advice´ with a 36 point build?

Or swap that Str and Dex and never need a Guided Weapon ever. Meanwhile, your lose nothing but dodge AC when caught flatfooted.

well yea... but he said Wis focused

How is he not Wis focused with a 20 Wis? With my suggestion Guided will only give him a +1 to hit when he gets high enough. With yours he is behind by 4 points until Guided and always behind 4 points in damage. If he wants to focus on maneuvers alone then go Dex, but he's not ever going to do damage.

TriOmegaZero has a good point. If you want to make your Wis stretch go for the Zen archer monk. Build a switch hitter it's an idea I came uip with while i was out of town. On paper it seems to work extremely well and kills off some of the MAD by removing some of the reliance on DEX.

20pt buy:
Str: 15
Dex: 13
Con: 14
Int: 9
Wis: 16+2
Cha: 7

1st: Perfect Strike (B)
1st: Dodge
1st: Belier's Bite
1st: Scorpion Style
2nd: Weapon Focus (Longbow) (B)
2nd: Point Blank Shot
3rd: Power Attack
3rd: Point Blank Master (B)
5th: Deadly Aim
6th: Manyshot
6th: Weapon Specialization (Longbow) (B)
7th: Improved Initiative
9th: Gorgon's Fist
10th: Improved Precise Shot
11th: Medusa's Wrath

By 6th level you'll pumping out hate all combat every combat.

Heck wiht Full BAB you cna take a lot of these feats way sooner.

No need for Guided weapons you can start popping Wis based ranged attacks at level three and with all the wis you'll be sporting all those arrows will be hitting for your unarmed strike damage.

Zen Archer is an idea, but the first two levels will be rough without that Wis bonus on attack rolls or fast movement to keep away from melee. It will also negate his ability to go Qinggong due to Zen Archer giving up Still Mind. Also, it has been clarified you cannot use Flurry BAB to qualify for feats.

The first two levels you're playing a melee monk. That's an easy one. You want high strength anyway for your bows. Plus the first post said his GM basically gave him full BAB.

Right, durr. Still doesn't jive with wanting to try Qinggong, but if that isn't a deal breaker it sounds good.

Pffft who wants to have spells? I'd rather reenact the Calligraphy school scene from Hero. With my character being the conquering army.

...the guy we're giving advice to? :P

Maybe. He hasn't really said what he wants to trade out for. Deny Death is an attractive choice. And I mispoke, it's the Vow of Chains that Zen Archer would interfere with.

Thanks for all the input but Im not really looking into using a bow. I do want to do the Qinggong route and actually use some spells just to see how it plays out. Im not looking to out do anyone in terms of damage but would still like to keep some of the battlefield control the monk offers while incorporating the spells.
