I mean, if it had been a guy goblin, Chiggo would have just kicked him in the squishies. Setting her on fire, however, seems like something I should avoid.
For now...
It wouldn't wreck the whole game; it would just add an unexpected angle to it. The tribe might drive him out, but he could join up again with the party in the morning, and by the time they come back, the tribe might have forgotten about the whole thing, especially if the party comes back victorious with the fireworks.
Of course, the tribe might just kill him rather than drive him out, but even then, it wouldn't wreck the game. There'd still be 5 party members left. :)
Maybe if he didn't kill her, just got Pussl to hold her down while Chiggo breathed fire on her kicking foot...

Old Foofelah lets out a throaty chuckle. "Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many like Old Foofelah. Old Foofelah sends not-good-enough infants into the swamp to Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many. But that one cheated Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many," she shrieks, pointing at Pussl. "She not satisfied until he is in her belly. Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many! Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many! Here is one you want!"
Not in any immediate danger herself, Old Foofelah will delay.
This made me laugh. :)

Volume 1 of Jade Regent is being released at Gen Con, which starts August 4, I believe. They'll start shipping to subscribers in the week leading up to that, so I should have my pdf copy by the time Gen Con starts or shortly after. The player's guide will probably be released a few days before Gen Con.

The maneuver master is pretty much exactly the type of Monk I typically like to play. I'm pretty excited about that. But I actually want to look at the whole book before I decide one way or another. Too bad I can't afford a subscription to that line these days.
Stupid economy.
Wander Weir |
Well, Ultimate Combat ought eventually to be added to the PRD, but I don't know how long you'll have to wait for it. Ultimate Magic went up reasonably quickly.
I'll probably buy the PDF. I can afford that much, anyway. I just don't know if it'll be available in time for creating characters for Jade Regent. That's why I kind of wanted to just get a subscription, so I could get the PDF as soon as the book ships to subscribers. Which is admittedly kind of stupid, since all I want is the PDF in the first place.

Well, release date is August 4th, which admittedly will probably be a few days after the release of the player's guide. If you have a general idea of what class you want to play by then, you could get the framework done and just see which abilities you'll be swapping out for whichever archetype you want. I don't think Navior will start without you.
LoreKeeper |
Besides, Navior will need a little while to prepare the adventure itself, reading through the AP isn't a quick job. Then at the latest we'll still be level 1s by the time that we realize what we really want; so changing a couple of small details (going from vanilla rogue to knife master) isn't a big deal (though going from barbarian to wizard might turn a few heads).

Oh, I intend to start without everyone. Indeed, I've already started. I'll let you all know what has happened to your characters once you're ready to catch up. ;)
Seriously though, as Lorekeeper says, I'll need a bit of time to prep the adventure first, so there will be plenty of time for everyone to peruse their copies of Ultimate Combat. We'll also want to make sure We Be Goblins is finished first. It's a very short adventure though, so there's a good chance we'll be done by the time the first Jade Regent is out, although the times might overlap a little.
Wander Weir |
Well if we have plenty of time, all the better. I saw a lot of interesting sounding Archetypes in that preview yesterday.
Navior wrote:Oh, I intend to start without everyone. Indeed, I've already started. I'll let you all know what has happened to your characters once you're ready to catch up. ;)I'm pretty sure Wander Weir's character has already forgotten to bring rope....
Hey, at least Lorenz had rope to leave behind! Come to think of it, Pussl doesn't have any rope though...

Longlegs Eat Goblin Babies Many shudders as Old Foofelah screams at her. The spider is dazed. (There's an oddity in the duration for the spell. The duration is listed as "1 round/level; see text", but the text states that the daze effect lasts for 1 round and makes no mention of any other duration. Since it's just a 1st-level spell, my instinct is that the duration should just read 1 round. I welcome further discussion in the OOC thread, however, if you wish.)
There. Now you can never say Old Foofelah never did anything useful for you. :)
We'll have to wait for errata on Ultimate Magic, but my feeling is that the duration text was either a copy/paste error or leftover from a slightly different version of the spell. My reading of how it's supposed to work is the same as yours, Navior: 1 round of stun plus damage that scales by level.

My Legacy of Fire game has officially folded, so I'm free to get out of this blasted heat and make the journey to Sandpoint. Of course, I'll need an extensive history re-write, but the essence of me will be unchanged. I'm looking to see the world, spread the faith of Sivanah, and unlock the mysteries of a foreign land.

"Now he's miming his face being eaten," Pezock says. He yells down, "YES, THAT'S RIGHT! THAT'S WHAT I'LL DO TO YOU IF YOU DON'T GET BACK UP HERE!"
Oh man. That's my favorite of Pezock's comments so far. Gods, the feathered bastard is funny.
(By which I mean Navior is funny as hell. Well done!)

I think you actually meant to put this in the Serpent's Skull OOC. However, since everyone in Serpent's Skull is in this game and Javell lurks in Serpent's Skull, the only one who's not going to know what this is about is Nazard, and I suppose it's okay if he's confused. ;)
I'm glad the line went over well. It cracked me up just writing it. I tried to imagine what miming a question mark with your face would look like. Using that bizarre image as a starting point, I then tried to imagine what it would look like if you utterly failed attempting it. The resulting image led me to Pezock's line.

Gilfroy will be most welcome on the journey.

Tell me about it. The heat here is terrible too. Yesterday in Toronto, we hit a high of 38 Celsius (around 100 F) with humidex of 49 (120 F). Today's not quite as bad, but it's still crazy hot out. And I have to head out into it in a few minutes to go buy dogfood. Fun...
Does your new place at least have AC? Either way, I guess I should stop complaining about the 36 humidex!

We do. Indeed, we often have too much of it and have to ask the landlords to turn it down a bit because it gets too cold in the apartment!
Wander Weir |
120F with humidex? Okay, you win with that. At least my office has a good AC. My house, however, not so much. The dogs have been even more unhappy than I am.
Is that much heat as unusual for Toronto as it is for New England? I've been contemplating possibly moving out there if I could work the job situation out.

It's very unusual. In July, we'll often get several days with temperatures in the low 30's and a humidex in the mid-to-high 30's, but breaking the 40 Celsius barrier is very rare, and to almost hit 50... I wouldn't be surprised if that's some kind of record.

And here we run into the plague of evil parties: plenty of negative energy but no positive, and little incentive for anyone else to give up what's theirs to help out another PC.
Especially since, by not giving him his cure light potion, Pussl removes the one competitor standing between himself and Reta's girly parts!

I used to live in Michigan and visited Toronto fairly regularly. I didn't think it got so hot all that often. Lots of records have been made this week, I think.

Exactly. Pussl will give him a little of his potion if necessary...Chiggo isn't nearly as annoying as Barking Dog (Reta) but if Poog can help out it isn't worth the waste. Besides, it's probably better left up to the Gods. :)
Especially since, by not giving him his cure light potion, Pussl removes the one competitor standing between himself and Reta's girly parts!
Ewww. Pussl doesn't have any interest in Reta's parts, girly or otherwise!

Yep, exactly. It's okay for a very short comedic adventure like this one, but I wouldn't want to do a whole campaign of it.

Jade Regent Player's Guide is supposed to be released "this afternoon" Paizo-time.
EDIT: Hey, LoreKeeper, did you see this post on Paizo designer house rules, particularly point 1? It reminded me of your attempts to punish Charisma-dumping.
And it's available!
Gilfroy Fezziwig |
Definitely Rescued by Koya. Is that a +2 trait bonus on healing spells, as in 1d8+3 at first level? If so, can't take anything but.
Unfortunately, none of the traits let me have a bonus to Bluff or Diplomacy. :(
Edit: Being Akeiko's best friend gives a Diplomacy bonus, but I don't really see that as a likely combination...
Navior |
Navior, please tell me we're going to do these caravan thingies...
Um...ur... I've had a busy day and haven't actually had a chance to download the Player's Guide yet (only just discovered now that it's available), so I can't give a definite answer. However, I can say, "probably". :)
