Hey guys,
Just a spot for talking out of character and getting our stuff together before I start the actual play thread. First thing we should do is get the name of the ship nailed down and secondly give some thought as to what your character has been upto for hte last week.
Basic premise of whats been going on is that you've been in Drenchport for the last week on shore-leave but the captain is bored and most of the crew are low on gold so you're probably setting out to sea in a day or so. Don't need a massive Journal of what you've been doing just a rough idea :)

Lorelei |

Lorelei has been spending a lot of time in various taverns. After all, what better place for the faithful the Pirate Lady to gather? :)
She's been doing a good bit of swimming and laying out in the sun during the day and by night, well, let's just say she hasn't been sleeping much despite how much time she's been in bed.

Uraisa Ellsworth |

Uraisa would have probably met Lorelei during one of her swimming/beach excursions. She would have spent most of her time swimming, and surreptitiously practicing her summoning spells. If they had become friendly, she would have shown off her ability to summon a dolphin at some juncture in the sea.
I am fine with any of the ship names. I also like most of the rum "flavored" names, so to speak...

Grutsnick |

"'ello mates! As you know, we're to be spending some time on shore and looking to make a fair bit of fun doing it. I recommend staying away from bad grog. Any of you bilge rats caught looking at Miss Lorelei will answer to me first and Gozreh second."
Gave Grutsnick his eye back and put in another pirate trait.
"Now, if anybody has a problem don't come looking to me to solve it, I'll be in town failing to follow my own advice!"
"Black Jarret, is it to be you or me watching after Miss Ellsworth on this shore leave?"
I'm going for the speech patterns from Firefly. Grutsnick will indeed spend the week drinking and wenching, but neither to excess."

Lorelei |

Great idea Grutsnick. You have given me the idea to base Lorelei's personality after Kaylee. :)
Lorelei is friendly with most people and would have enjoyed a swimming partner. Due to her heritage Lorelei loves the sea and spends a very large portion of her time swimming until sundown when it's time to head towards whatever tavern has struck her fancy for the evening. Once at the tavern she orders dinner and drink, flirts, dances and listens to all the stories the pirates there tell.
I really need to find a term equivalent to "wenching" for Lorelei to use regarding her excursions. :)
Aww, Grutsnick, you always ruin all my fun. I haven't gotten into that much trouble before, have I? Gives a not quite convincing pout to go along with that statement.

Grutsnick |

From some answer site: In some Shakespearian texts, the masculine version of a wench is a swain. It seems that in Shakespeare's time the word swain meant a young male peasant or sheperd and wench a young female peasant.
"Well now Miss Lorelei you are certainly welcome to keep any company you like, I'd just prefer it if, stricly for morale reasons you understand, you limit your predations and heart breakings to those outside the crew if you're to go a-swaining, if you catch my meaning."
If we're going to talk like Firefly I vote for our ship to be the Junebug. :P

Lorelei |

Well, as long as it's not me you be worried about and just the crew, I suppose I can do as you ask, but just be letting me know if you ever intend to be the exception to your own rule. Winks playfully at Grutsnick and prepares to head down the gangplank.
Maybe "The Drunken Junebug" just to make it sound more piratey?

Roland Red-Hand |

The Drunken Junebug. They'll die laughing if our crossbows don't get them first. I like it.
Hey everyone! I am rather enamored with "The Drunken Junebug" as well.
Also, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth, the weekend just threw some unexepected Real Life Stuff my way. Roland's full stats and some background/what he's been up to will be up tomorrow night.

It is said that the orcs found in the Shackles are known to undertake a test of courage upon reaching adulthood. This test involves placing a live badger within ones pants and then punching it. When an Orc wishes to become a chieftan without killing his predecessor he may enact a variation of this ritual where, rather then a badger, he places an angry and aroused wolverine into his pants. This ritual is unpopular however, due to the high probability of death for the initiator. Where these Orc tribes manage to procure Badgers and Wolverines is anyones guess.

Roland Red-Hand |

Hey! Still alive, sorry about the delay. I posted over in the RP forum, shame I missed the bar-fight.
Anyways, I've got all of Roland's character info up aside from a detailed background. He is a really ambitious fellow, so I feel I should speak with you, Jormungandr, about what it's actually realistic for him to accomplish within the game.
Happy to be playing, everyone! Now that I've got my sheet up, I should be able to post at least once a day, likely more.

Lorelei |

So I'm wondering what bunking conditions are? Is there a separate area for us females? Are Uraisa and I sharing quarters? Is Grutsnick sharing quarters? (it'd be hard to slip a badger in his bed with witnesses) Also I'll need to know if I have arrange to have my trysts somewhere else. ;)

Lorelei |

I've been trying to figure out peoples post times so I know when to check for stuff, but so far most of us post at some pretty random times and I'm betting we are all in different time zones. I don't even know the time difference from to Australia. I make random posts when I'm bored at work, maybe I should get a pet baby badger to take here with me. I can say it's pet therapy. After all, one lady here used to bring her pet baby pig with her and bottle feed it.

I'm on GMT+8 I believe :)
I normally try for a minimum of two posts a day. Oh, and what do you guys think so far, would you prefer more exacting descriptions, longer conversation or do you like the current balance? What would you like out of the game plot wise, would you like lots of role play with wheeling, dealing and romance, battles on the high seas or exploring ruins on lost islands?

Lorelei |

One of my all time favorite movies is still The Princess Bride if that gives you any clue to my mindset. So everything you just said except the ruins exploring, plus some extra romance cause that's just how I am. :)
(I'm on EST, I just keep crazy hours)
