This coal colored creature looks like a little cousin to the griffon, back a house cat and front a raven with sharp ears.

Caven are rumored to come from a wizard's experiments to create a new familiar after loosing a few over the years from adventuring or other experiments.
They tend to be a quirky lot, showing behavior traits of both ravens and cats. Watching a pack or unkindness move through a town is fascinating as they combine flying, climbing and running into adventure fun time.
Other rumors speak of packs or unkindnesses being lead by Albino cavens (white coloring, advance template and can speak one local language.)
Cavens can be chosen as a familiar, masters get a +2 to Reflex and speak one language that their master knows.

I love it! Truly, I judge it worthy to hang out with the catbirdopus and the badgerconda. :)

I actually DO like it (whether or not the tone of the blog post in the former link reflects the views of Mark). It's not really all that cheesy, no more than a 'griff of another breed, and the image I have of them is kinda similar to the hippogryphs of WoW (solid black, sans antlers, much smaller).
I'm tempted to steal it and change the type to fey.

Somebody ought to write a computer program that generates random "monsters" that are frankensteined body parts jammed together...
Squawk - Back end of a squirrel, wings and head of a hawk.
Snark - body of a snake, wings and head of a meadowlark.
Squiggle - Back end of a (big) squirrel, wings and head of an iggle.
Partier - Back end of a rat terrier, wings and head of a parrot.
Fowl - Back end of a fox, wings and head of an owl.
Heh... this could be a party game...

@celurian , sorry I lost track of this thread! To answer your question which is very late is yes it is suppose to have ears. In my head they are more like cat ears combine with elven ears so I guess cat hears that are tall? Also I figure the front legs would be a bit more thicker because it is a runner/climber too.
Either way the picture looks awesome and thanks!
