A regular medium druid can Wild Shape at 4th level into a small or medium animal. What about a large druid? By RAW, I guess, it's Beast Shape 1, which says "small or medium," but most druids don't get the ability to drop 2 sizes until 6th. Any traction on the idea that a large druid can Wild Shape into a medium or large animal at 4th?

Actual size means nothing when wild shaping, it doesn't state any exception to the large small rule so their isn't one.

Small druids can transform just as Medium ones, so I suppose it's the same for Large druids.

Liberty's Edge

If you are not medium or small and use polymorph spells(meaning non-core and not in the balance design), you must use the polymorph table and make adjustments before applying the spell adjustments

Polymorph Rules

here is the snippit:

If a polymorph spell is cast on a creature that is smaller than Small or larger than Medium, first adjust its ability scores to one of these two sizes using the following table before applying the bonuses granted by the polymorph spell.

Creature's Original Size Str Dex Con Adjusted Size

Large............................ –4.. +2.. –2.. Medium
