I'm going to be playing in a campaign which uses non spell casting versions of paladin and rangers. I just wanted to know if there was any good feats or builds to make a Ranger/Paladin, or If I would be better off just going straight one class.
You'd probably be best staying pure, or only taking a couple levels in one of the classes for some bonuses (Paladin save, Ranger combat style, etc.)
If you do multiclass, though, and if 3.5 material is allowed, take a look at Devoted Tracker in Complete Adventurer.
Check out the Skirmisher Ranger from the APG for a Ranger without spells, and the Warrior of the Holy Light for a Paldin without spells.

Take two levels of ranger (guide archetype or Favored Enemy in evil outsider, dragon, or undead) to pick up Two-Weapon Fighting as a Combat Style feat, with all of the remaining levels in paladin. This lets you pull off a weapon and shield bash/shield slam paladin (great with Smite Evil) without needing a 15+ Dex.
There are some limitations: restricted to medium armor (although mithral plate makes it a minor limitation); cannot take Double Slice, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, and Two-Weapon Rend; lose some damage with Smite Evil (although the +2 on attack rolls and damage from Ranger's Focus or Favored Enemy can compensate).
Race Half-Orc
Alternative Racial Trait: Toothy
1st Level: Ranger Guide, Feat Power Attack
2nd Level: Ranger Guide, Combat Style: Natural Weapon, Feat: Aspect of the Beast - Claws of the Beast
3rd level -> to the end Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light)
Now you have 3 natural attacks with full BAB and way to get past DR & gain more damage.
I resurrect this thread!
So the idea of a switch-hitter Paladin seems possible if we take two levels of Ranger and build that into a Paladin.
So what would the idea build look like.
I am posting my character as a first level paladin here, and hope to level him into ranger.
2 levels of ranger and 4 levels of paladin, then holy vindicator. lots of options if you're looking to go HV.
So my build starts paladin
and then I think level 2 paladin, then levels 3 and 4 to Ranger.
Any ideas on the build?
The bonus feat at level 2 Ranger really defines a character. Whether it be 2 weapon fighting or Aspect of the Beast, or something different, I'd do my Ranger levels first then Paladin.
