Marra set Qalaus down (standard action) when she landed last round. (Riding an eidolon like a mount requires an evolution, and is only available for quadrupeds.) Marra moved this past round, but Qalaus stayed put, in however deep that part of the oasis is.

EDIT: Looking back, I neglected to mention Marra setting Qalaus down. Can he take care of getting to the ground this round as a move action? (If she has to drop him from a height, he'll spend a swift action on featherfall so that he doesn't have to worry about a Concentration check.)

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I think a move action to get down is fine, no worries. As a halfling you probably would have been swimming in the water, lol.

Hey guys, What time zone are you in? I'm in Okinawa,Japan so I'm like running pretty far ahead of most Stateside timezones. Just wanted to know what time most of you are posting I can try to post as close as possible to the same.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Iowa is in the Central Time Zone.

Chris Mortika wrote:

Up early or late, lol. I'm from Missouri and it is early in the morning right now isn't?

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

It's 6 in the morning now. I just had three hours of sleep. Took a friend to the ER last night for 4 hours to find out they had strep and a UTI. -_-

Ouch, that freakin' sucks. I am going to be out of the loop this afternoon. I have to go to the rifle range to qualify today. I'll have a post up as soon as I get back.

Male Human Rogue 12

I too am from Missouri, St. Louis in fact.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I'm from Branson, Missouri...Moved to Idaho when I was 10.

Funny that so many of us ended up being from the same state. I'm from STL originally and have lived in Columbia for a better part of my life. I'm currently in Okinawa with the Army. Back to MO a year from now.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Hm. I'm (from/in) Texas. Funny thing how it spans 2-3 time zones. Central Time like most people here seem to be. I can usually only post in the afternoon due to the...unique situation of my internet access. (That is, I don't have wireless, and given the location of our ethernet ports, I can't use it late at night at risk of waking people.)

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

I, too, grew up in the St. Louis metro area. (Raised in Creve Coeur. Attended Chaminade College Prep.)

Sorry for not posting something sooner, guys. I'm in the hospital with my infant. She had to have surgery early this morning to correct a bad infection and she is now in the process of going through an antibiotic regimen. I should be able to post since I can do nothing sit here hoping the s&%& works. Will help keep my mind in the right place. Looks like things are going to work, but it's going to take a couple of days to tell how well.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

That is really harsh, hope she gets better. I remember having to wait with my son for hours and hours because he had gotten into a bottle of tylenol and it takes like three hours for them to test acetaminophen levels. Hospitals always have the worst chairs too (except the maternity ward, thank god)

By the way, how is the map working out for people?

Bilbo: Does Jack move this turn or stay put? Oh wait, I suppose you would have needed to stand huh, lol.

She still has a high fever, but the it comes and goes with the Tylenol they have been giving her. Kids man, give ya a heart attack about every other day.

I'm confused as to where I was to begin with, haha. I assumed I was grappled wiggled loose, and was given the go ahead on a full action. I may have to adjust my post a little if this is not the case.

Map is working great.

Now that I have seen what the worst case senario for a Gunslinger looks like, I can't wait to see what a good one looks like, lol.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

You were grappled and prone. Then freed by Learnur's spell, however that left you prone. So on your turn you could fire and stand up.

Male Human Rogue 12

Your map-fu is strong... One of the main reasons I've anticipated your return to DM arena.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Maps are good. What are you using: just Excel?

Bilbo, you and your family's in my prayers. What are the hospitals like in Okinawa?

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Inkscape actually. Sometimes I pull bits and pieces from Ye Old Map Maker. It's the same program I used for my Location submission, just a bit more colorful.

Thanks Chris, she had a temp spike yesterday to 105.1, but they put the smack down on it and she has been back in the 90's since. We may get to go home today.

@Scipion. Let's go with the shoot and stand. I need to spend a round not fighting from my back or in a pair of pincers. :)

Being invisible will deny any enemy I target their Dex bonus correct? So when I shoot I should get my sneak attak bonus, but become visible, right? Wanting to formulate my actions for next round and not violate some rules. Also, I am not going to the prone for the sake hiding in the pony, just jammed in close.

You are correct. They are flat-footed, and when you fire you lose the invisibility.

And I suppose for a halfling a pony would be as good as cover.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

=/ Man. What's with all the hospitalizations?

And the map works great. I especially like the part where the updates include all my enemies dropping like flies. :D

Guess I oughta come around this board more often. Feels like I'm missing a lot of bonding moments. Haha.

You're just lucky I didn't think to have all the scorpions try and flat out initiate grapples on you earlier. It wasn't until the last round I was like, "Wait a second...they don't need to claw him to grapple. They can just do it as a standard action. Then his armor won't mean a thing!" But you killed 'em all ;)

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Between that and the fact that they wouldn't all be dead by now had I not critted, like, 4 times this battle, I guess I am lucky. I have doubts I'll be as lucky again if we come up against more grapplers, but I'll take my victories where I can get 'em. *Winning smile*

I am beginning to think Jack is one of those Jinx Halflings. Lucky is not the way I would describe this guy, lol.

Man, I am beginning to wonder why people hate the firearms so much. Theo just whacked five of them damned things with a skinny piece of steel, lol. That was truly impressive. And we were worried about the scorpions' stingers.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Heh. Give it time. Jack's luck wasn't so hot this battle, and Theo was on fire. I sure don't see anything unbalanced about firearms so far, though. Flare is nifty, and I guess I see why some people would be mad about mundane blinding (since it's a powerful status effect) but misfires are scary.

Didn't know ranged weapons worked with Vital strike, though. That's neat. I'm playing a 'slinger soon, I'm gonna have to remember that.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Oh, and in all fairness, I killed 4. Marra got S4

I've been crappin' pants every time I roll. Those specialty rounds up the mifire chance by at least 1. Nothing like not having to roll and being able to hit, but rolling a 3 or below and having the thing blow up in your face, lol. Blindness and dazzled are nice, but they last only for 1 round. But, it has saved my arse and makes for fun writing. I agree everyone here has done more dmg in a single strike than I did in 2 and I am using entire rounds to load and fire.

I would have to play a 9th level Gunslinger to make a fair assessment of their true potentialand next time I will. At 7th level it looks like they get some real nasty tricks.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Yeah, it's a nifty class, but it's the first time a base class has been built around a weapon. Between that and the apparent homogenity of them, it seems kind of strange. But if you're in a setting/group where they're not common, they bring something different.

Didn't realize the stuff was only 1 round. That's a shame, but probly good for balance...

Well, monks are built around unarmed fighting. I'm rather fond of my idea.

Like it! I actually really like the Gunslinger and think it is a good way to make Pathfinder something other than a re-skinned d&d.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

My logic was, what class specializes in a specific fighting style at the expense of other weapons. What class provides bonus feats towards that style. What class has an existing point based pool system used to pull of extraordinary feats. I think the flurry of blows mechanic fits perfectly, it makes sense a gunslinger would be more accurate when they don't move.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Hah! So they are. It's an interesting idea, and it makes sense, after a fashion.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Just a note: I'm traveling to Origins Game Fair tomorrow through Sunday, so my checking in may be spotty.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Sorry, Tues and Weds are my new days off, so was spending time with my son and IRL D&D!

NP for sure.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Yeah, that's totally cool. I am, for what it's worth, going to be on the high seas for a week, starting in...6 days, I think? I don't want to hold up the game too much, but I can't really post for that week, so...it happens, I guess.

Also, neat tidbit for our resident gunslinging rogue: Part of the Blinded status effect makes creatures lose their dex bonus to AC, hence opening them to Sneak Attack.

Hey Scip, I saw you've had some changes in your real life scheduleand was wonerding if we were still rollin' on this one. Post have slowed to about one a week. Just curious. No problems if you don't have the time right now. Stuff happens.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

I suspect we're dead. Is anybody still here?

Male Human Rogue 12

still here and waiting hopefully!

Dark Archive

male wraith biomedical scientist lv5/ film director lv3

i am and waiting

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Part of it was probably my fault, being out of town and without internet for the past week. Obviously, it's possible to run things with one or two derelict players, but the face-y guy leaving in the middle of a social interaction makes stuff pretty weird.

Anyhow, it started to slow a bit before that, too, but such is life. Ready and waiting :)

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Also, holy crap. That's 4 out of 6 within 3ish hours. Looks like we're not dead yet, eh?

Hey ya'll.

Male Human Rogue 12

So I guess we are on pause. Well it was fun while it lasted. I will keep an eye on the thread just in case it fires back up.

On a side note, great playing with all of you. Scipion, best of luck to you sir, I hope your load lightens in the coming months and if you decide to start things back up, I'll be ready.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Nope, I'm not calling these ones dead yet. I just wanted to let you guys know what has been going on. Honestly, this part of the module is the most intense one for me, dealing with NPCs tends to do that...

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor 4

Sounds good. I have no qualms with a GM dedicated to quality.

On the other hand, sounds like rough stuff. You gonna be alright, bud?
