After casting Maze

Advice

So, Maze. 8th level spell, allows SR but no saving throw. Banishes the victim to an extradimensional space; he gets a DC 20 Int check to escape as a full-round action. Presumably you do this to get rid of the victim for a few rounds while you either flee, buff, or prepare the battlefield.

Okay, so -- say you want to prepare the battlefield. What spells might you cast?

(Note that this came up in the context of fighting Treerazer. TR has stupidly high saves, but his SR is no great shakes -- a 20th level character with feats has about an even chance of overcoming it. So, Maze is a spell you'd reasonably throw at him. But assuming it works, and you don't then immediately flee like hell -- then what?)

It depends on the exact circumstances. If you're fighting him alone, "preparing the battlefield" is really going to be "buffing to high heaven." If you're having to deal with him at the head of an army you're going to want to deal with the army so that you're not distracted when he returns.

There isn't a lot of preparing a battlefield that can be done when you're dealing with something that has continual freedom of movement and teleport without error at will.

If it's not a fight that I think I have a good chance of winning, I prepare the battlefield by removing myself from it.
