Hey, everyone! A friend of mine has agreed to run some PFS adventures for our group (yay, I get to play). We've got varying levels of experience with 3.5/PF, and only a couple of us have done any sort of organized play.
So, here's my question: we're all completely new to PFS and don't have a good sense of the meta-plot or existing adventures. Which adventure do you all think would be best to start with? It's a home PFS game, so time isn't really an issue. We plan to start in June.
Thank you very much!

Welcome!
Best guide to refer to is Zizazat's Best Scenario Selection Order.
It's reasonable, but it's missing my favourite: Silent Tide.

It's mentioned, but not in the list:"Given a perfect world: #5, #4, #33, #35, #39, #29, #24, #7, #30, #6, #49, #41, #48, #51, #52, #02-11, #02-01, #02-02"
True, but mentioned in the main portion of the post with sufficient information to know why one was chosen over the other to allow a new GM to change the starting module as they see fit. A new GM reading that post would at least see that they might want to consider including Silent Tide in their new to PFS campaign.

Although Throaty Mermaid is my favorite scenario so far, it's definitely not for everyone (you either love it or hate it), so I'd avoid it at first because it might turn some players off. Try it at 2nd level!
I'd stick to something more traditional, and personally I like "Decline of Glory". "Mist of Mwangi", "Silent Tide" or "Citadel of Flame" are also excellent choices.
There are probably other excellent introductory scenarios, I just haven't played them yet. I'm dying to play: Delirium's Triangle, Assault on the Kingdon of the Impossible, Before the Dawn 1, and The Pallid Plague. They may or may not be suitable, but they are definitely some of the best scenarios!
I'm a little hesitant to recommend the "First Steps" series because:
a) We don't know if they're good or not (it's a fine line between a scenario being too easy and too hard for 1st levels).
b) They're not available until late July.
c) I read something about "picking a faction at the end", which makes me think that perhaps no "Fame"/prestige will be granted during the first three scenarios, which could nerf new PCs.
So basically, I'm going to have to read/play the First Steps series before I can recommend it.

I assume that the PA will be retroactively applied to the choice made, IE: You'll have a chance to earn a total of 6 PA across the 3 modules.
However, the 'nerf' reason you cite is the exact reason I don't recommend Master of the Fallen Fortress. I assume 3 mods specifically written and given away to promote PFS play would not do this to new players.
