Therefore, most off-topic discussions, and particularly the ones in which people are actually discussing issues, don't fall under the definition.
Why some trolls do not want the label: media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions. Therefore a troll can be someone who is attempting to cause or stir up trouble even when the post is "on-topic."
If you wish you can always try and find counter examples, but the definition, has grown to even be used outside the internet.

No disagreement. But some people legitimately enjoy hearing other viewpoints and debating politics. They aren't trying to stir up trouble, but rather engage in a favorite pastime.

I believe that having the hide feature allows those that wish to engage themselves in such topics the abilty to do such without bothering others.
I also believe that trollishness is in the eye of the beholder. Some believe entering a thread to debate the definition of trollishness is in fact trolling.
So I believe there is a thread somewhere awaiting your brilliant insights. Best of luck in your debates.

Believe that Kirth not only defined trolling, but meta-defined trolling. Excellent work!

I believe there is a difference betwixt honestly debating an issue or giving a point of view and attacking others for their beliefs/points of views and/or just seeming to post to pat themselves upon the back.
eh. what do I know.
a
I also believe nothing will be hashed out on an rpg thread anyway.

By the same token, I believe that what is viewed as "attacking others' beliefs" varies so wildly from person to person that there's no telling what counts.

I believe that Aberzombie without trolls is like Batman without criminals.
(In honor of Frank Miller)
However, I also believe that there's no reason to bother the troll-haters in their own thread, even if they are passively-aggressively (hee hee!--obvious troll is obvious!) bemoaning my kith and kin.
I also believe I am happy that CJ didn't stay away for months.

Much better day today... a good nights sleep and getting out from some of your debt can change how much BS a person can deal with.

I believe Evil Lincoln's statement is perfectly valid and spot on.
I believe I will be taking a hiatus from the forums when I get home.
Bummer.....but I dig it.
It's not the news itself, which is good to mine ears.
It's the foreseeable fountain of condescending "advice" and know-it-all responses that has me hiding in the OTD.
Let me know when it's safe to come out.

I believe my mother ruined the lefse batter I made by pouring in the contents of the salt shaker before I could stop her.
I believe I'm going to let her fix this. Unless, of course, she wants salty lefse.
I believe "drink the beer in the fridge so there's room for food" is one of the more awesome pre-holiday jobs this year.
